A Greek demigod, an Adonis of Arabian origin by paternal affiliation but loyal to the Jewish by maternal trait. Cyrus is a living, breathing, killing machine. The best of the best that Iran could possibly attain. Leading the life of a mercenary, constantly fulfilling heartless bids of his ‘father’, come boss, Jalal Rahimi. There is absolutely no room in his heart for remorse, neither is there any for guilt. Even worse, any form of love or affection. At least that’s what he thought.
Enter this daunting goddess. Layla Wallace. Only daughter, only child to the brilliant Dr. Aleck Wallace, a nuclear physicist at MIT. This stunning empress, brilliant Harvard student in a relationship with the most handsome boy in the campus, Zamir Kamel, a Saudi ‘prince’ who she is head over heels crazy about. Layla holds the most precious virtue she could ever accord any man. Her virginity. The only condition for her giving it up to any living soul is love. Pure, genuine, overwhelming love. Could Zamir be the one to claim it?
Things start hitting the fan when Layla’s defiance takes her to Dubai with her boyfriend Zamir, on a first class flight, all against her father’s wishes. Aleck Wallace knew things would, for certain, go haywire when an Arabian tycoon’s son takes his Jewish, American girlfriend to the Middle East. Right at the center of a nuclear revolution. His headstrong daughter, nonetheless, would have none of it.
Layla meets Omar and Myriam Kamel, Zamir’s parents and just when you think things could not get worse, a twist of events finds Layla locked up at Evin Prison in Iran, just about to be ravished by the beastly Muhammed. Cyrus, the chivalrous knight in shining armor, with quite the sense of humor, makes his grand appearance and before you know it, it’s a bizarre tailspin of life threatening ordeal after the next.
Bell Ami does a spectacular job. A masterpiece of thrill and passion. The epitome of an emotional card game with the reader. A spectacular plot and character build up by the author. Dumbfounding vividness of description has you reading the book in HD, which leads me to this very crucial point, the book Escape brings to life very detailed romance scenes and sexual content, so if at all planning to read the book, brace yourself for a wild ride.
I rate this novel 4 out of 4 stars. The author successfully transports the reader to this world and entirely consumes them in the frantic efforts of escape. While the content may not be a good recommendation for any reader deemed under age, I would definitely recommend the book to all romance/thriller/adventure lovers out there. Escape is definitely a must read.
