Escape : by Belle Ami

This is a thrilling romantic novel about both physical and emotional survival. The author tells a fictional story about a couple that met in the strangest of circumstances and a love relationship that started out as an ordinary assignment for Cyrus and a struggle to escape alive for layla turned out to be a lifelong engagement. Cyrus is an agent that has mastered the art of killing, torture and deception. He has no room in his heart for love or he thought so. On the other hand,Layla all her life only knew the love an protection her father offered her and the pain she saw in his eyes whenever he missed her mother.

Cyrus haven separated himself from any one that would mean anything to him concentrated on work only until he met Layla then all the control he thought he had over his emotions came crashing down. Meanwhile when Layla left home, she thought she was coming to the middle east to meet her would be in laws, familiarise herself with the culture and traditions, bask in the beauty of the place and get acquainted with the place and people. She was not prepared for what came after - the betrayal from her fiance and the breaking of her engagement to her prince charming, the struggle for survival, the run for her life and the falling hopelessly in love with a complete stranger. This book talks about a kind of love that transcends time, age, culture and purpose.

As an individual I have never been to the middle east but the way the author describes events, places, streets, towns, buildings and terrain, it paints a very clear picture in my mind and this makes the words come alive for me. The details are described so perfectly that the pictures of the scenery becomes something one is not quick to forget. The chapters are intricately woven together each one blends with the previous one creating an interesting rhythm.

This book is interesting, captivating and entertaining. It is the kind of book that keeps you going once you start until you reach the last page, then when you eventually get to the end you keep wishing there were more pages. The way the story ends it keeps your mind creating a million other scenarios that are likely to occur after the last one. On the other hand, I feel that a more straight to the point description of roles and positions in the different organisations would have been better to reduce the stress of imagining a complicated web of hierarchy on the reader. But this maybe the writer is trying to describe how the organizational hierarchy actually is.

I will rate this book a 4 out of 4 because it was an interesting read. There was no boring point or a point were you get lost. From the beginning to the end every chapter connected to the next, with smooth transitions. I will totally suggest it to someone.
