This seems like a wonderfull novel. I love thrillers, and any novel that has the ability to keep me on the edge of my seat. I love to hear that this one in particular has a touch of humor. You wrote an outstanding review, one that makes me want to pick up this novel.

I do love crime novels. The book seems thrilling and full of suspense. The murders, mystery files all add to the intrigue. I'm cautiously looking forward to reading the book, though I'm too sure about the numerous profanities. Great review!

I was really impressed with the quality of writing in the sample pages. I also like that you said the author was able to work in hint of humor. That said, I'll be taking a pass on this. Sounds quite . . . dark and depressing, to be honest.

I can't even imagine what a horrible experience it must have been to "witness the death of a childhood friend". Book seems more like memoirs than fiction crime. I am truly sorry, but I definitely don't need such memories imprinted on my mind. I will pass it, but congrats on the BOTD!

This book sounds very intriguing. I do like a book that features mysteries from the past that have effects on the present. The author has a witty style of writing that I think I will enjoy based on your chosen quote. Thanks for the great review!

A mystery thriller that keeps you on the edge as you await to know what happens next. It also has a hint of humor that makes it even more outstanding. This book sounds like a great read. Excessive profanity is a flaw but the rest of the book seems great. Thanks for the great review.

This book sounds like an interesting plot with a cast of colorful characters. I do not know what the ending could be considering all of the twists and turns that occur throughout the plot. I like that the beginning of the book starts off with a childhood friendship, but quickly devolves into mystery with a suspicious death.

If a one sided friendship leads to the demise of a friend seems quite tragic and I'm quite interested to find out how the story unfolds. Congrats to the book of the day.

It having a suspense trigger right away from page one makes an exceptional book to reckon with! Wonderful review! It is really fascinating how these old time friends dealt with the haunting of childhood misdemeanors!

Wayne is bad news. I am glad you said in the review that Wayne develops more depth in his character. That convinced me that I should read the rest of the book. I always enjoy reading your reviews. They are factual and to the point.

Sounds intense, like the kind of book they make movies out of. I'm curious about the underlying stories of the characters.

The plot looks really interesting. I am a huge fan of gripping crime-thrillers. Also, I am excited to discover the depth of Wayne's character. It is super satisfying to read a book with well-developed characters. I look forward to reading this one. Thank you for your review. :techie-studyinggray:

The review is very perceptive and detailed, and your opinions concur with mine.
I only have one objection: When you say
"Despite the excessive profanity, Litherland delivers a suspenseful story that will keep readers guessing until the end.", there actually is no concessive relationship between the two ideas expressed; I cannot see how excessive profanity could prevent delivery of a "suspenseful story....". But maybe I am wrong.

I appreciate that Litherland seeks to portray realistic dialogues through the colorful language, but he seems to go overboard.
Sometimes, I find it difficult to judge if the swearing is excessive. It might help if you can tell us how frequent the swear words come up. Once every sentence/page/dialogue?

Thank you for your review!
