Randy love at your service is a fictional novel by Shay Carter. It tells the story of Randy, a young British lad born of an unplanned pregnancy. Randy is a struggling university student and after an exchange year abroad he seems to want to drop out of school. His father, however, wants him to graduate and Randy decides to graduate to make his father happy. During his time in Bishop’s Milton, Randy lives with his father and although he gets an apartment, his immaturity causes him to move out before his lease is over. Randy decides to get a job before school resumes and he gets a job working in the kitchen of an inn. He leaves that job soon enough and takes on another job at an all girls school. He goes through a couple of jobs and finally takes a full-time job at the Stornford building society in Bishop’s Milton. Randy discovers that if he is able to pass an exam and increase his skillset, he’ll be able to get a better job in London.

He passes the exam and he gets a job as a financial advisor in a major bank in London and he moves there. Randy’s friend Paddy allows Randy to stay at his place for a while. Randy is expected to move out after the agreed period or renew the lease agreement with his name if he decides to stay there. Randy does none and is forced to move out. Randy meets Nicky, a solicitor at his elder brother's law firm in London and they have a fling. Randy has trouble finding a permanent place to stay and soon he realizes he is homeless. Having nowhere else to go, he is forced to move in with Nicky. Randy is frustrated while living with Nicky and he counts the days till he can move into his own apartment. Randy is happy when he finally moves into his own apartment but a lonely Christmas and a conversation with his elder sister makes him realize that Nicky was actually a blessing in disguise.

Randy love at your service is an interesting novel. Randy’s lack of common sense is quite comical. What I love most about the book is that the slangs used are explained at the end of the book so if you aren’t familiar with any of the terms used, all you have to do is check behind for the meaning of the term. This helps readers not familiar with the slangs better understand the book. I don’t think there is anything about this book that I do not like.

Randy love at your service will appeal the most to young adults although older adults will still enjoy the book. I don’t think it’s suitable for young teenagers because of the language used. Lovers of comedy and happily ever after will love this book. I think the novel will appeal least to lovers of thrilling and adventurous novels. Even people that love suspense or plot twists won’t really find it interesting. Also, people that read books in hopes of learning lessons from it might be disappointed.

I’ll rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. It's profesionally edited with zero errors. I think the author is a great storyteller but the plot isn’t so captivating. It’s a well-written novel, considering the fact that the author isn’t an experienced writer. It’s a relaxing novel, an excellent travel companion and a great way to pass time.
