The First Ten Focus Group Feedback for Soul Seeker

Because Soul Seeker was Book of the Day, some of our most trusted members have carefully looked over the cover, the description, and other aspects of this book as a part of purchase-intent focus group. We then asked each participant in the focus group if they planned to buy and read the book, and why they planned to buy and read the book or not. Their answer to that question and reasons are displayed below. We call this awesome feature The First Ten Focus Group.

Keep in mind, the responses from the members are not reviews. This is purchase-intent focus group which means the participants are people who have NOT yet bought or read your book. A purchase-intent focus group is an important and extremely useful marketing tool for any product, not just books. For other products, you might walk on the street and show people an item in a package and poll them about whether they would buy if or $X or not. These kind of focus groups are one of the ways big marketing companies find the ideal price points for products and test the effectiveness of different packaging. The focus group can help you identify your market so you how to target ads of your book, and it can (but may not) provide you new useful info about your "packaging" (e.g. your book cover, your book synopsis on Amazon, etc.). The point of the focus group comments is to give you information from people who have not bought or read your book about why they plan to buy your book which will help you in marketing the book. These are not reviews or critiques of your book because they are not from people have read the book. This is a marketing tool, not reviews. The trick of book marketing and book advertising is that you have to convince people who have not read your book yet that your book is worth buying and reading. For marketing, it doesn't matter much if people love your book after reading it if you cannot convince potential buyers before they read it that they will love it.

IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable. This is because we only poll about 20 or so readers, and all readers have to say "no" to almost all books. Over a million books are published each year. Even a very active reader cannot come close to even reading 1% of books out there.

This is also why publishing books is such a tough industry.

The book revolves around supernatural beings and soul collectors. Poe is tricked into committing murder due to being manipulated by a demon and Crighton gets the sould he desires. Crighton has arrived to a peaceful town to claim the soul he was sent to capture by Lucifer. However, what will happen when he gets kidnapped by a group of scientists that forces him into a soulmate relationship with the very soul he seeks to capture? The book has got a mystifying plotline with lots of twists and turns. I would have sampled the book even if it wasn't a part of the top ten program as I liked the blurb. The thing I liked the most while sampling is that the book stats on a suspenseful note and builds curiosity right away. I also like the poem that summarizes the main theme at the beginning of the book. I have not found any editing errors so far, so I'll rate the book as professionally edited. I did see an official review before sampling. I'll read the whole book as I've enjoyed the sample so far. I don't have anything specific to recommend for improvements, though.

I wouldn’t have sampled the book based on the cover, title or blurb – I didn’t really find the blurb very compelling. The official OBC review did not really convince me. I liked the poetry bit at the start of the book – I thought it was really creative how the author managed to convey the background and setting with just a simple poem. I did not see any typos. However, I thought the first chapter after the prologue was a little long – I personally thought the interactions between Noah, Jamie and Poe dragged on quite unnecessarily. I don’t think I will be reading the rest of the book as I didn’t find the story very compelling.

This is a novel about a man who kills his son with six shots, but he claims he meant to shoot another person. I would not have read this book based on the cover, the title, or the genre, as I do not like fictional crime thrillers. I will not read this book, as it seemed cliche and unoriginal. I found no spelling mistakes in the sample I read, so this book was well edited. What I liked most about this book was that it had lots of suspense and emotion, which grasped my attention. To improve, the author should make the plot more unique and original by being more creative. This book had an Official OnlineBookClub review, which did not influence my decision.

The official OBC review is compelling, although from its description, the book sounds more like a police procedural/crime thriller than the supernatural epic that the cover would suggest. The first ten pages, too, suggested a crime procedural, possibly with a terroristic element. Poe's confession to his lawyer points to a supernatural explanation, but at this point it really does sound like simple insanity, since there's nothing to back up his claims yet. The scene with Noah and Jamie in the general store was a little boring, to be honest. I felt like Ben's forgetfulness could be introduced in a different way, if that was the point of the scene (though I'm not convinced that it was); that he habitually neglected his family and that Jamie might be an alcoholic was all I really got out of it, and neither of those furthers the plot. I did like the way Ben was described in the prologue. Based on how he was introduced, I immediately got a vivid sense of what kind of person he was, even though he did nothing but sit behind a prison barrier and talk on the phone. I don't think I will continue reading the book because it sounds like the supernatural aspects, which are what primarily would attract me, are confined to the later chapters, and I don't really want to invest the time to get through the criminal chapters to get there. I found two errors in the first ten pages: a missing hyphen in "his buttoned down collar" (buttoned-down); and inconsistent capitalization in "try my sweet Potato casserole" (either "sweet potato casserole" or "Sweet Potato Casserole").

I would have sampled this book based on the genre and cover. The cover has an angels and demons vibe, with the light in the background and hellfire below, so it is a fair representation of the book. In fact, I already have had this book selected for review with OBC for the past week.

I read the official OBC review. I hope I am equally as impressed with the book. So far, I really like the author’s writing style. I have no suggestions for improvement so far. I noticed a couple hyphenation errors, and I feel that one line in the poem at the beginning has incorrect punctuation: “Yet was the blame fought, did angels intercede? When the demon used trickery in his plot to succeed.” I feel this should end in a question mark as I believe it to be a continuation of the preceding line. As it stands, it looks like a fragment.

I am marking this book yes as I already own a copy and will be reading it. I likely would have picked up a copy based on the sample if I weren’t already reviewing it.

The plot of this book is based on a crime thriller mystery, so I am definitely interested in reading this book. The cover art looks amazing, and it has positive reviews from the official OBC review. The first ten pages introduce Benjamin Poe and his lawyer Beaudoin. Poe was charged with first-degree murder of his son. He recounts the events to his lawyer and that's where the story starts. Poe forgot his wife's birthday and went over to his friend Noah's shop so that he could fix something for his wife. We are introduced to Poe's profession as a firefighter and we see his interactions with his friends. The narration is fast-paced and intriguing. Generic crime thrillers are my guilty pleasure and the story looks interesting so I am going to buy and read this book. No typos were found, and I found nothing to improve in the first ten pages.

I would not have sampled the book based on the genre, blurb, OBC review, cover, and title. It seemed like it really had a lot going on with this mix of genres. After reading the first ten pages, I won’t be finishing this book. I did like the poem at the beginning. I also thought the scene at the prison with the phone conversation about what really happened was a good way to frame the scene. However, I’m not interested in the creatures in this story or the romance aspect of it. The book did seem to be professionally edited, and there isn’t anything that needs improvement. It just isn’t my type of book.

The title and cover are intriguing. I like suspenseful crime stories and the cover of the book shows a person behind bars. I would have sampled this BOTD with the genre portrayed. There was an OBC review that added horror to the book. When I read the poem at the beginning of the story, I found that to be an interesting prelude. I liked the pace and how the personality of Poe was described. I could empathize with how worried he was about finding Gabriel in the fire. All the elements of the perfect suspense novel were started in the sample. The story appears professionally edited and there was nothing I disliked. I didn't read any other reviews online. I plan on reading the rest of the book.

Based on the blurb from Amazon, it seemed like this book was going to focus more on the paranormal-romance angle, which is always a toss-up for me, so I may not have read it. The first ten pages, however, focused on more of a true-crime/thriller/mystery sort of vibe which, again, is a toss-up for me. Knowing that a romantic angle will eventually emerge, this sells me on the book as a whole. I enjoy both thriller/mystery and romance, but either one alone wouldn't have been enough for me to want to read the book. I didn't notice any errors and the story seems like it will be tight to accomplish everything in the summaries. I will definitely be reading it.

Based on the title and cover, it seems like a fantasy/thriller kind of book, which I am not in the market for; hence, I would not have sampled it. I have also come across a positive OBC review of the book, but this would not have changed my decision not to sample, since this book does not belong to a genre that I am looking for. After sampling, there are a couple of errors present. For example, at 4% of the sample, there is a missing hyphen to mark the compound modifier: "a finger under his buttoned(-)down collar...". I suggest more editing. However, I appreciate that the author started the story with a bang. For example, the story opens with Pierce's visit to the maximum security prison to visit Ben. We learn that Ben is accused of killing his own son, and Pierce decided to take up the case for the media attention, in the hopes that it would both buy him credibility and also draw clients to his struggling private practice. However, as I am not in the market for paranormal fiction, I will not be buying the book today.

I thought that the title was a self-help book, but I was shocked after I read the poem in the sample. The sample deals with Poe, a good husband, but he committs a serious crime. I was intrigued about Poe's life, even the interrogator became curious, too. Plus, the sample is free from errors. I assumed the book was professionally edited. I will not read this book because crime-related story isn't good for me. The thing that I like in this story is the author's way of retelling the story of Poe. Moreover, the OBC review is very insightful about the book's synopsis, which affects my decision. There's nothing to improve in this unique tale.

The cover is not very suggestive of the content. The official review looks good, and there are a number of ratings from Amazon's customers. However, their opinions are not consistent. Since the genre is my favorite, I decided to give this novel a try. The tale begins when Benjamin Poe's counselor visited him at the prison. Poe was arrested and punished with the death penalty for shooting his son. While admitting his doings, Poe denied his intention of this killing and started to tell his counselor a quite unbelievable story.

I like the smooth wording of this book. With concise sentences, the author shows us a crime laced with fantasy and paranormal aspects, making us wonder if Poe really is the fearsome man people think he is. The editing is alright, though there are some errors. Still, the pace is kind of slow. I think it's better if the actual killing scene is described so that the readers can see Poe's struggle while facing his son. Also, there are a number of reviews provided at the beginning, but they are for the author's other novels. Thus, I find them meaningless, as they are totally unrelated to this particular book. Perhaps they should be moved to the end so that those who finished this story can check out the other books if they are interested. Since the sample is not suspenseful enough, I'm not keen on reading on. For now, I won't buy this.

Error example: "Wait till you try my sweet Potato casserole," Jamie said. Leaning toward him. "It's got a special secret ingredient." -> I think there is no need to capitalize "Potato", and it should be a comma before "Leaning" instead of a period.

Time is running out for Poe. Having executed his son, Mr. Beaudoin believes the only way out for him is to plead insanity. The prologue neatly portrays Poe’s exasperation in trying to plead not guilty. The dialogues used makes the storyline flow naturally. I loved most the suspense in it. I couldn’t help but wonder about Poe’s fate. I wouldn’t have read this book without sampling. This is because I could neither connect with the title nor the cover page. Based on the first ten pages and OBC review, I will not buy this book since fantasy reads are not my cup of tea. It seems exceptionally edited. My only suggestion is to include page numbers for the subsequent chapters. This will guide readers who want to go directly into a particular scene of interest, without fumbling through the entire book to locate the chapter or subtopic.

The book description says this book is a fantasy and it is confirmed by OBC’s review. Fantasies are not my first preference and this book also has paranormal elements. There is no way I would have picked this book on my own. I went into the sample believing I would not like this book. But to my surprise, I kept on reading eagerly. The reasons: the poem in the beginning; it gave this book an aura of folklore. And the revelation of a father killing his own son. The story was flowing smoothly like a murder mystery even with Poe telling a devil made him do it, but more twists appeared with revelations about Poe’s family.
If this book was not a series, I definitely would read this book despite this being a fantasy. The sample was compelling enough for me to change my mind. I did not find any errors and the writing was compelling. If in the future I want to read a fantasy series this book will be my first choice. For now, I’ll pass as I am not ready to take upon a fantasy series.

The title was titillating, and the premise interesting. The official OBC review rated this a full 4 stars. I found no noticeable errors in the first ten pages. They showed Benjamin Poe's lawyer trying to convince his client to plead insanity in order to counter the life sentence he has been given. The starting was intriguing enough, setting a dark and ominous tone for the entire novel. I loved the sense of apprehension and had no complaints or suggestions for improvement. I have already read this book and enjoyed it.

I could not infer anything about this book from its cover and its title because "Soul Seeker” meant many things to me. Therefore, I read the official review of this book as I was keen on knowing its contents. The official review helped me to understand that the book focuses on Benjamin Poe's act of murdering his only son, Gabriel, as he had committed a crime under the influence of an evil spirit. This information encouraged me to read the sample of the book before purchasing it. When I read the first ten pages, I realized that this book is not professionally edited because I found some grammatical errors in the sample. For example, the sentence, "A few of the men had smiles on their faces, caused by their adrenaline and an enthusiasm to help...". The sentence could have been, "A few of the men had smiles on their faces with adrenaline and the enthusiasm to help...". The thing l liked the most is the premise of the story where a soul seeker manipulates the mind of a twenty-one-year-old, which was a recipe for a great book. Sadly, I found several sentences were a bit long and phrased in such a way that it often confused me while reading. My suggestion to the author would be to go for a round of professional editing and make it simpler to read. Looking at all these facts, I decided not to purchase and read this book today but wait until the author could help by addressing my suggestion so that reading the book could be an enjoyable experience for me.

This book isn’t my style of genre or title, so I likely won’t purchase it to finish reading. However, I can tell by reading the sample that it will appeal to readers who enjoy a dark tale. I was struck right away by the poetry with which the book began. I liked the poetry best. The sample seems well-edited. I know that this book will deliver thrills to readers who look for that in a storyline. With that in mind, I can say there is no need for improvement. I read the Official Online Book Club review and liked how the book presented a fast-paced plot.

If I hadn't sampled this book for the First Ten program, I would not have sampled it based on the title, cover, or Official OnlineBookClub review because I am not used to reading books of this genre (horror, especially dealing with the supernatural). After reading the sample, I will not be reading the rest of the book because, even though the prologue was chilling and captivating, I felt a significant decrease in the pace and intensity immediately after, which made me lose interest. My favorite part of the sample was the way it began - with Poe already in prison. I felt this created a bigger interest in the overall plot, rather than just an interest in figuring out the ending. The book appears professionally edited, and I cannot think of any way to improve it.

I likely would have skipped the sample of Soul Seeker if it hadn't been the OnlineBookClub's book of the day. Based on the description, the devil is mentioned in the book. After reading the sample, I believe that I am correct. As such, I will not be purchasing this book. However, I liked the mystery that is at the beginning of the book surrounding Benjamin Poe murdering his son. I did not see any errors, nor can I think of any improvements. There is an official OnlineBookClub review of this book, but I did not need to read it to decide to not read the book. Readers that do not mind mentions of the devil and like mystery may want to check this title out.

I wouldn’t have sampled this book based on the blurb, as the premise didn’t appeal to me. I like the poem at the beginning of the book. It was about the heinous act the father has committed to his son. This poem bore a poetic feel to it, setting the entire atmosphere of the story. However, the premise doesn’t sound appealing to me. The summary of this book piqued my interest, and the official review had me further intrigued, wondering what Benjamin Poe's story has to do with angels and demons. I liked that the book started from Beaudoin's perspective because it gives an outsider's thoughts on Benjamin Poe before he begins to tell his story. So I am interested enough that I am going to buy this book. There were no editing errors, and nothing needs to be improved.

Despite the nice cover page and the OBC review, I didn't want to read this book. From the blurb, the storyline seemed is repetitive, so I was not interested. After reading the sample, I changed my mind and would read this book. The poem, in the introduction, was gripping and caught my attention. I applaud the author for this strategy. Even though the sample looked professionally edited, I did find an error in the sentence, "... they'll send me away to the State hospital ...." The word, "State," should be lower case. Also, several ellipses had a space between the dots. I don't have any suggestions for improvement, except to fix the above mistakes. There was an OBC review; it didn't affect my decision.

Kaylin McFarren is the author of 'Soul Seeker.' Benjamin Poe is given the death penalty. He had murdered his own son. However, he still claims that he had fired the bullets, but he never intended to kill his son, Gabriel. Pierce Beaudoin had taken up his case. Poe finally decides to reveal the sordid truth to him. I found some small errors. It should have been "God's honest truth.." instead of "God honest truth.." Apart from this, the book seems to be well-edited. I like engrossing and fast-paced storyline. There is nothing in need of an improvement. The title, cover, OBC review, and the Amazon reviews give us a pretty good insight into the book. I will read this book as I wish to know why a loving father murdered his only son.

I'm not a fan of the cover art. The figure behind the bars is drawn in a different style than the rest of the cover and the two don't mesh well together. However, the title did pique my curiosity about the book. The synopsis on Amazon was interesting but I really wish that the character named Poe had a different name. Edgar Allan Poe is the only Poe that should exist in literature. The official Online Book Club review gave the work a perfect rating of 4 out of 4 stars and made me more excited to sample this book. I do not like rhyming poetry. Thus, the opening poem was my least favorite portion of the first ten pages. "Poe quietly sat, staring at his hand[s]..." (4% of sample). I noticed a few minor errors in the first ten pages but believe the work was professionally proofread. I didn't think the prologue was necessary. After reading the synopsis and the review, I was already interested in hearing Poe's story. Additionally, the prologue set up the opening chapter to be narrated by Poe since Poe is about to tell his story to Beaudoin. However, chapter one is told from the third-person perspective. That made the transition from the prologue to chapter one very abrupt. That being said, I did enjoy both the prologue and the rest of the first ten pages, but not enough to purchase the book. Even at the end of the first ten pages, I was still bothered by the name Poe.

Even if I had not been a member of this program, it is entirely possible that the paranormal romance and fantasy elements of this book would have tempted me to pick it up. This would have been greatly aided by the cover and title, which scream "paranormal" and "supernatural," which are among my favorite genres. I am not familiar with the author, so that would not have affected my decision. Although the book is listed as C/M/T/H (not one of my favorites), the blurb focuses tightly on the book's supernatural elements. This reassured me that the given genre was a lesser factor than the fantasy and supernatural elements. There were many customer reviews on the Amazon site, the vast majority of which were positive and also focused more on the characteristics I found attractive in the book. Although I did not see a review from this program on the Amazon site, if I had, I would have been interested in what the reviewer had to say. The review on this site was highly complimentary of the book. This set high expectations going into the sample. I found the sample interesting and engaging. Knowing the book's premise, I almost immediately started to believe that both Poe's wife and his son Damien were being influenced by the demon mentioned in the blurb. Lexi's and Damien's naturally manipulative behaviors simply opened the door right up for him! Of course, I may be off track here, but I'm definitely going to find out by reading the book! The book seemed well-edited. I found no 'countable' errors in the first ten pages.

I really like the cover and title of this book, they make me want to find out more. I would have sampled this even without the First Ten program because I am a fan of supernatural stories. The first few pages are well edited. The prologue had my full attention, I thought that was a great way to start a book. My initial reaction to the profiling of the teen at the store was one of dismay but that quickly changed after seeing the kid's reaction at being called out. The OBC review was positive, it was nice to hear that romance plays a big part in the plot of this book. For this reason, I will continue reading the rest. I was intrigued about this book's cover and title, so that I would have checked it out without a review. After reading the official review and discovering the book has supernatural content, I knew I would not be reading it. The sample wasn't into the supernatural element yet, so I didn't mind reading it. The storyline is interesting. The portion I read was about Ben Poe telling his attorney the story behind his son's death, which Ben has been sentenced with the death penalty after being found guilty of his son's murder. I didn't find any errors in what I read, and I didn't find anything that needed improvement in what I read. I don't intend to read any more of the book due to the supernatural content, which I avoid in books. However, I am sure readers who enjoy murder mysteries with fantasy and encounters with the devil will enjoy this book due to the unique storyline.

Both the title and cover image of this book are interesting - they both fall in line with books I'd normally pick up. I liked how the introduction is set up in that the opening differs from other paranormal books but is no less interesting. I believe I will read this book at a later date because of this. I located at least three errors in the first ten pages, leading me to believe the book was not thoroughly edited. One such example is: "But even in his prison uniform, he was tidy and well-groomed." (Here, 'well-groomed' doesn't directly precede a noun, therefore it does not need to be hyphenated.) I would say that this is the only area that needs improvement.

The Official Review was enough to make me want to read some of the book. As I often would browse the horror section of a book store, I'd have picked this up for a closer look. The Reviewer was correct in that the book is very well written. I also most liked the dialogue between the characters, which seemed natural. However, I very much disliked "The Collector" poem that begins the book. It's amateurish and totally unnecessary. I won't be reading the book, because even though I enjoy horror novels, I tend to avoid devil books. Nevertheless, the book appears to have been professionally edited as I saw no errors. In addition, I have no suggestions for improvement.

This book has a beautiful cover and a catching name. I would surely have at least checked it out had I seen it somewhere else first. The story is both gripping and horrific, and the book appears to me as well-written and well-edited. I truly enjoyed reading the sample and could not think of anything that should have been done otherwise. However, I know I will not be reading this book further. I do not deal well with horror-related topics such as demons, and I’d rather not lose my sleep over a book, not even if it is a good one. The Official OnlineBookClub review painted a very positive picture of this book. However, it also mentioned that sensitive readers should keep their distance. Therefore, it confirmed my impression that this might not be the book for me to read.

The cover and the title didn't sparkle any interest in me because they don't seem special. Any urban paranormal looks the same to me. Anyway, I'm not usually into these sorts of books. The OBC review didn't convince me, making me more inclined to reject this book upon finding out details about the plot. A soul-catching demon doesn't sound good to me. However, I was surprised to see that I was actually able to enjoy the beginning. I liked the little poem the author starts with. The book begins with Mr. Beaudoin taking up Benjamin Poe's case. The writing is filled with details, making me interested in the characters and their development. I don't think it needs any improvement. However, I'm not going to keep reading it because the idea of demons disturbs me. I was pleased with the level of editing this book had.

Soul Seeker by Kaylin McFarren is a book that brings crime, suspense, a thrilling narrative, supernatural creatures, such as demons, and other aspects. If I didn't sample this book, I would read it based on its Official OnlineBookClub review since the plot seemed unique and I have never read a book that talked about demons involved in crimes like this one. After sampling it, I didn't change my mind and I will read the entire book since I enjoyed the author's style, which was my favorite part, which started talking about what happened to Benjamin after the event, and then explains what happened when the event occurred. Besides, the book seems professionally edited and there's nothing to be improved in it.

I was confused by the cover of the book. I couldn't tell if the prison cell was inside an eyeball or a mouth. The title and the subtitle were very ominous and made me want to avoid reading the book. The satanic symbols were also a negative aspect for me. The blurb mentioned "paranormal, romantic adventure," another negative. The review was very positive, but I still was not convinced to read the book. I did not find any errors in the pages that I read. I don't have any suggestions for the author. I will not finish reading the book because it sounds too terrifying.

If I wasn't part of this program I would have still chosen to sample and maybe read this book. The cover and the title seem quite interesting. They both suggest a dark and mysterious story probably involving demons or some similar creatures. The genre is my most preferred one, so that was a plus when I saw the cover and the title. The official review really got my interest in the book. It was wonderfully written, and it summarized the book in just enough detail. It also supported my thoughts about the demons and the mystery. So, I will probably buy and read the book. I like the genre, and the overall image of the book looks intriguing. In addition, I didn't change my mind after reading the first ten pages. In fact, they got my interest even more. It's skillfully written and it certainly catches the reader's attention from the very first pages.

I think the book is professionally edited. I liked the short poem in the beginning. I think it makes the book more unique. I also enjoyed the writing style. It looks professional and engrosses the reader. I am sure that the book is full of mystery and interesting moments. It will certainly keep me on the edge and I will not get bored. I don't have suggestions for improvement.

A well-respected firefighter, Benjamin Poe, ends up in jail after unintentionally killing his son, Gabriel, whose soul is taken by Crighton, a manipulative demon. However, when Lucifer also orders Crighton to bring him the soul of an angel named Ariel, Crighton is kidnapped by a group of scientists whose goal is to experiment on him. Although both the cover and the title caught my attention, I would not have read the book based on the genre. I am not fond of supernatural mystery novels, so reading both the OBC review and the sample did nothing to change my mind. However, I found the author's writing style engaging and descriptive, and the first four chapters were filled with enough suspense to keep me engaged throughout the sample. Unfortunately, as I found some distracting errors, I would suggest another round of editing. For example, it should be written "the steamer trunk" in the following sentence: "I opened the streamer trunk and took out some of Riley’s dresses." (location 581 of 719 • 81%) It should be written "His orange jumpsuit was clean, and his undershirt was crisp white" instead of "His orange jumpsuit was clean and undershirt was crisp white." (location 184 of 719 • 25%) I found a missing comma before "waiting" in the following sentence: "Poe met Devin Lowe next to the side of Engine One and stood back waiting for him to climb into the center of the rear seats." (location 368 of 719 • 51%)

After reviewing the title, genre, cover, blurb, and review of this book, I would not have read this book. This kind of romance/fantasy mix that the review purported has never sat well with me. After reading the first ten pages I didn't change my mind and therefore will not be buying and reading the rest of this book. I really enjoyed the visual/descriptive writing I saw from the sample that I read. Lines like, "The snow crunched beneath his boots, and his lungs puffed out white clouds" definitely paint an image for the reader. That being said, I'm just not interested enough in the fantasy genre to read the rest of this one. The book looked well written and edited from the sample that I read and there wasn't anything I picked up on that I would have wanted changed or thought that I could improve upon. The official OBC review didn't affect my decision.

The book title and subtitle did not attract my attention immediately, but after reading the blurb and the extremely positive OBC review, I was eager to read the first 10 pages. As a matter of fact, I actually read more pages as I was drawn into the story. The well-edited sample ensures that the reader wants to know why Poe killed his son. I did not particularly like the poem at the beginning, but maybe it becomes more meaningful after reading the entire book. As an improvement, I would suggest to change the subtitle to make future readers curious about the reason behind this murder. I will buy this book as I want to know how the story evolves.

The man behind bars on the book cover, the genre, and the title made me interested in this book. The customer, editorial, and OnlineBookClub reviews increased my interest further. I enjoyed reading the first ten pages and liked the story's flow leading up to the story's plot of a father killing his only son. I am curious to see the connection between Poe and his son and the paranormal aspect of the book. I did not see any errors in the first ten pages, nor did I see anything I would change. I have already downloaded this book and started reading it.

The cover art of this book is interesting and caught my attention right away. The title makes me curious about the book. I would have picked this book up based on the cover alone. The first ten pages were filled with dialogue between the main character, Poe, and his attorney. Poe was in jail for murder if his son. He admits that his bullets killed his son, but he states that he was trying to kill someone else. It seems like a very intriguing mystery. The Online Book Club review gave this book four out of four stars. This increased my interest in the book. I didn’t read any additional customer reviews. I didn’t see any errors in the first ten pages, so I believe the book was professionally edited. I also didn’t see any area that the author could improve upon. I was pulled into this story right away. I enjoy reading mystery books and I am interested to learn what really happened the night Poe’s son died. I would like to finish reading this book.

If I haven't read this book through this program, I wouldn't have read it otherwise. I will read this book, but I think I wouldn't stumble upon it without the OnlineBookClub program. I like the genre, and the premise is intriguing. After reading the sample, I am curious about the rest of the book. I like the characters and the mystery part. It is a compelling storyline. I didn't notice any grammatical errors. There is nothing I would change about the book. This book has an Offical OnlineBookClub review. However, I wasn't sure about reading this book until reading the sample.

Total ~ 45%

Soul Seeker earned a score of 45%.

In other words, out of the top-level reviewers who read at least the first 10 pages of this book, 45% plan to read the whole book.

IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable.

Over a million books are published each year. Any given person could not even read .0001% of the books out there. This means readers have to be very selective. Even taking the time to look over reviews and blurbs, let alone read samples, is more time than most readers can afford for most books. The First Ten is a powerful focus group that addresses those issues. It creates a helpful tool for authors, publishers, and other readers.
