Cover for Genesis (The Infinity Series, Vol.2)

The First Ten Focus Group Feedback for Genesis (The Infinity Series, Vol.2)

Because Genesis (The Infinity Series, Vol.2) was Book of the Day, some of our most trusted members have carefully looked over the cover, the description, and other aspects of this book as a part of purchase-intent focus group. We then asked each participant in the focus group if they planned to buy and read the book, and why they planned to buy and read the book or not. Their answer to that question and reasons are displayed below. We call this awesome feature The First Ten Focus Group.

Keep in mind, the responses from the members are not reviews. This is purchase-intent focus group which means the participants are people who have NOT yet bought or read your book. A purchase-intent focus group is an important and extremely useful marketing tool for any product, not just books. For other products, you might walk on the street and show people an item in a package and poll them about whether they would buy if or $X or not. These kind of focus groups are one of the ways big marketing companies find the ideal price points for products and test the effectiveness of different packaging. The focus group can help you identify your market so you how to target ads of your book, and it can (but may not) provide you new useful info about your "packaging" (e.g. your book cover, your book synopsis on Amazon, etc.). The point of the focus group comments is to give you information from people who have not bought or read your book about why they plan to buy your book which will help you in marketing the book. These are not reviews or critiques of your book because they are not from people have read the book. This is a marketing tool, not reviews. The trick of book marketing and book advertising is that you have to convince people who have not read your book yet that your book is worth buying and reading. For marketing, it doesn't matter much if people love your book after reading it if you cannot convince potential buyers before they read it that they will love it.

IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable. This is because we only poll about 20 or so readers, and all readers have to say "no" to almost all books. Over a million books are published each year. Even a very active reader cannot come close to even reading 1% of books out there.

This is also why publishing books is such a tough industry.

I was highly attracted to the cover of this book. The title also seems to match it. I would have read it outside the program. While reading, I got immediately engrossed with the story because I adore love triangles and righteously jealous boyfriends. Even though Alex Prescott had been nasty to Gwen, I loved the fact that his emotions were all over the place and that Gwen was innocently giving him a super hard time. It got a bit clichè when I read of the so-called history involving Lucifer, Adam and Eve, but I had to remind myself it was just fiction, and I went with the flow, albeit rolling my eyes in the process. I'd still finish the book though. The book was professionally edited because I didn't see any error or anything out of place. The OBC review greatly stimulated my interest in reading, and the love saga between Alex, Gwen and Jasper, in addition to the spirited dialogue, kept my interest ablaze.

Judging by the cover, I wasn't going to read this book, but the OBC review urged me on when it mentioned that the author narrates the story of three friends who traverse the universe to find a cure for a mysterious condition. When I read the first ten pages, I liked that the narrator felt responsible for Gwen's illness. Since I noticed no errors, I will conclude that the text underwent professional editing, but I won't read the rest of the book because it doesn't appeal to me. As it is, there's nothing I would change about the bit I read.

The title is not indicative of the theme of the book. The cover is attractive. There are 34 Amazon customer reviews, which is good. The Amazon summary of the book makes me interested in the book, so even if not for the First Ten program, I would have sampled the book. As I sampled through the book, I found the narration describing Alex's struggle as he is taking Gwen to California to get the poison out of her system and save her. As the story deals with magical things like "Tree of Life" whose fruit would save Gwen, I am interested in going through this book in full. The book has been professionally edited, and there are no grammatical or mechanical errors. What I liked most about the book is its plot. I could not find anything that can be improved about the book. Although I found one OBC review on the book, my decision to read the book in full is based on my own sampling.

Based on the cover and title, I think I would've sampled the book. Both aspects are appealing and really creative. It attracted me at first sight. As for the first few pages, I was surprised that it was also a romantic genre. I was also a bit confused as to what the story is about or what is the story behind the characters. As it is the second book in the series, it was a bit confusing when Jasper mentioned about angels. However, I think the book is intent on telling about the adventure the group will embark to save Gwen's life. The Tree of Life is interesting but the plot is somewhat a bit cliché for me. Also, knowing that their goal is to save Gwen, with the author's writing style, I could not see myself getting curious of their journey. With that said, I think I will not be buying this book. If I have read the first book, I might give this book a chance. I found no noticeable errors and the official OBC review was persuasive enough to tell me to sample this.

The cover art and title, Genesis (The Infinity Series, Vol. 2), are intriguing. They would cause me to pick up the book for a second look. I am a fan of sci-fi fantasy novels and especially like stories with angels. I liked the idea that the angel, Alex, loved the human woman, Gwen, so much that he would go against the angels guarding The Tree of Life, hoping that it could heal her. Although the official review said that this book, second in the series, was understandable alone, I was confused by all of the names mentioned and felt it would have been better to start with the first book. I found a few grammatical errors with commas, such as at location 51 where it says, "Jasper and I had tried everything, but nothing we’d done brought her a moment of comfort." The comma is not needed. I like the story so far but think it would be better to read volume 1 first. Because of this, I will not be finishing the book at this time.

I would have sampled this book based on the genre, blurb, OBC review, cover and title. I like paranormal romance, which is what the review described this book as, and the idea of an angel falling in love with a human seemed interesting. After reading the first ten pages, I won't be finishing this book. I really didn't like the interactions between the characters. For example, I thought Alex was way too jealous over Jasper trying to help Gwen. This just seemed to be at an unrealistic level. I also felt like I was missing some of the story since I didn't read the first book. An entire book happened before this point, and I think a lot of that story might be important. I'm assuming the characters were all introduced in that first book, and references like Jasper's play would probably make more sense if I had read it. The book did seem to be professionally edited, and it was well written. However, I won't be finishing it.

From the cover, blurb, and review of this book, I wouldn’t have read it. I haven't read the first in the series and I really prefer to read books in the order that they are written. After reading the first ten pages I didn’t change my mind and therefore will not be buying and reading the rest of this book. I appreciated how this book attempted to summarize, bring the reader up-to-date, and introduce the reader to the characters. Specifically, mentioning characters such as
Ky, who had helped in the poisoning of our main characters focus. That being said, even though it does sound interesting, and the review says that it could stand on its own, I really prefer to read series in the order in which they are written. I didn’t see anything specific that I would have wanted to change within the sample that I read, but it did seem well written and edited. The official review did not affect my decision at all.

The cover is gorgeous and I really liked the sample at first. The way everything is described, how the protagonist cares for Gwen, how he snatched the bottle away from Jasper, was all interesting. But when it became clear that he is an angel and they were looking for tree of life, the story took a complete paranormal turn. There wasn't anything I particularly disliked. The writing was engaging and edited professionally. I won't be reading further because I don't like the genre.

Genesis (The Infinity Series, Vol.2) by Bellamy Westbay is about a read that left me expressionless. When I read the official review, I never felt so numb in this one and a half years of my career as a reviewer. Honestly, I wasn't sure what to write, but have to admit the cover illustration is really amazing. There is something that's drawing me close to it and I'm not sure what is it. Written in the first person's perspective, we can see the protagonist in a rough situation where he has to watch his loved one fighting her life. The author's writing is great to secure her readers sympathy. I'm sure readers who are interested in this type of read would enjoy it as for me I will set it aside as I didn't see myself read this book further. I didn't encounter any grammatical or typo hindrances while reading.

I like the cover of this book a lot, it's colorful and unique and eye-catching. It did make me think of a nonfiction religious book, though, and as such I would've passed it up if it wasn't evidently fictional when I came across it.

So far I'm still a bit iffy on this book. I didn't really connect with the characters at all, likely due to the fact that this is the second book in the series. I really wanted to know the specifics of Gwen's poisoning, and while learning that the main character is an angel was pretty epic, the rest of the first chapter was a bit weak without caring about the characters yet or understanding exactly how things played out previously.

I didn't see any errors, and I'm assuming the book would be way better if I'd read the first book, but I don't see buying this book now.

Without this program, I would not have sampled this book. Retelling the story of creation isn't for me. Therefore, the cover, title, genre, and blurb do not pique my interest. Also, I typically prefer to read books in order, so the fact that this is the second in a series would be a bit off-putting. The positive customer and OBC ratings do not affect my opinion of the book. Based on what I read, the book does seem to be edited well. It was easy to visualize Alex's torn heart as he watches his love, Gwen, suffer because of what Hannah injected in her, which I imagine happened in the first book. It was also easy to picture Alex's anguish over the fact that Jasper would be helping Gwen get cleaned up versus himself. This easy visualization says a lot about how the author is able to explain her characters' situation, which is great! On the other hand, I have not read the first in the series and therefore would be reluctant in reading this one. Due to this and the fact that I'm not looking for a retelling of the creation story involving other galaxies, I do not plan on buying and reading the book.

I like the eye-catching, well-designed, and pretty cover, so I would have sampled this book on my own. I got curious about this book series after reading the positive OBC review. I like the idea of a romance between an angel and a human. The book seems professionally edited. The story starts with an intense dilemma. Gwen is dying after Hannah poisoned her with an unknown substance. Alex is desperate to find a cure. Also, Alex is in love with Gwen. He had pushed her away because apparently Ky was her soulmate. However, he helped Hannah do her bad deeds. Reading the sample pages was exciting. The storyline got my full attention, but I have not read the first book. I want to know how Alex, Gwen, and Jasper ended up in this situation. So, I will not read this book until I can read the first one.

I might have sampled this without the programme as it seems to be paranormal romance, which is a genre I like. I won't buy and read it today, however, because it is the second book in a series and it was clear from the opening that I was missing some action that had gone before. I got the impression that the book had been professionally edited as I noticed no errors. Although I was missing the action that came before the opening, I did find it intriguing that Gwen had been poisoned and wanted to know more about that. I also liked that Alex was an angel as I enjoy paranormal elements, and I appreciated the description of the tree of life guarded by the sword of flame. Nothing particularly needed to be improved, although it was quite clear that it would be better to start with the first book. There was plenty of action and a little more description could have added some texture.

I read the official review of this book, and the plot didn't seem like my cup of tea, so I wouldn't have chosen to read it without this program. After reading the sample, I think the title and the cover are suitable for the book. I like that the author's writing is engaging and can hold a reader's attention. Although I've not read the first book in the series, it was not very difficult to make sense of the sample. I appreciate that the author has dropped some hints for those who are reading this without reading the first book in the series, but I do think this sequel can be far more enjoyable if read after the first book. I didn't find any errors in the portion I read and have no suggestions for improvement. This seems to be a professionally edited book. The sample was not convincing for me to change my mind about not reading this book; I still think that its content is not for me as I'm not very much into reading romance, so I'll not be reading the whole book. Readers who are interested in supernatural romance and fantasy would be an ideal target group for this book.

The beautiful design on the cover of this book peaked my interest; however, the blurb and review did little to entice me. After reading the first 10 pages, while the idea of the Tree of Life intrigues me, I will not continue reading this book due to the highly possessive nature of Alex. I found no errors in the first 10 pages, suggesting that this book was professionally edited.
My favourite part is the potential the author built into the beginning of the book; the background story of how Gwen was poisoned, along with the potential roadblocks that Alex and crew could meet along the way. My least favourite part, as stated above, is the highly possessive nature in which Alex views Gwen, suggesting that she is completely helpless without him. While there may be a deeper reason for this that is explained later on, I am not motivated to find out if that is the case.

Without The First Ten program, I would have chosen to read this book because the blurb, the official OBC review, and the first ten pages had sparked my interest. The cover looks mysterious and wonderful at the same time. Gwen was poisoned. Ky and Hannah left her for dead. Alex on the other hand, kept blaming himself for Gwen's suffering. Alex was finding ways to find the antidote to that poison. I would like to know more, so I will read on. Here are the errors I noticed:
*grammar error*
 Some bioweapon?

* fragmented sentence*
And this was how I’d repaid her.

*run-on sentence*
I hadn’t bothered to ask what she wanted, I’d made the decision for us both and completely cut her off.

I don't have further improvement suggestion for this book. Genesis (The Infinity Series, Vol. 2) by Bellamy Westbay is a #Paranormal #Fantasy #Romance that follows a banished angel, Alex, and his friends as they travel across the multiverse to find three keys that will open a door to the Tree of Life to save Gwen (a human - Alex's lover). It's an age-old tale of humans and angels falling in love.

The cover and title are quite mysterious. I do not see the the correlation between the title and the story, judging from the first ten pages I read. Well, this is the second book of the series. I think one may have to read the first book to actually understand the second book. The story is based on angels on earth. That sounds interesting to me. I would get a copy of the first and second books of this series. It seems to be professionally edited. I didn't find any error.

Both the cover and the title for this book caught my interest. Then I read the Amazon synopsis and OBC review (the only one I read) and changed my mind. I don't think I'm interested in this story of a search for a cure, especially since it's book 2 in a series; I NEVER read books out of order. With that being said, I was glad that the sample seemed to indicate that the book was professionally edited. I also liked the narrator's explanation of the Tree of Life. Even though I won't finish reading this tome, I don't have any suggestions for changes because it is written well for its genre.

Based on the cover and title, I would have read the sample because the cover looks well put together and I like its genre. From the sample, Alex (an angel) blames himself for Gwen's predicament. Gwen was poisoned by Hannah and it was torture for Alex to watch her suffer and not be able to do anything to help her. Jasper and Alex with Gwen in the back seat, move on a quest to find the tree of life, which seems to be their only hope. The fruit from the tree of life is believed to make any human immortal and three angels known as the gatekeepers had keys to the flaming sword guarding it. The book seems well edited. The OBC reviewer gave it a perfect rating, which seals my wanting to read the rest of the book.

I wouldn't have sampled this book without the first ten program because I'm not a fan of paranormal romance series. However, the cover is beautiful, and I like the title too. The 34 customer reviewers give only 3, 4, or 5 stars to this novel and most of them also read book one of the series. The first chapters mention some events taking place in the first book of the series. I would have read that book first if I had liked the sample, but I didn't. I was put off by Jasper's and Alex's offensive language. The vocabulary the author uses is rather simple, the dialogues lack dynamism, and the story fails to trigger emotions despite the fact that Gwen was poisoned and on the verge of death. The way Alex tells Jasper he is an angel and mentions the Tree of Life didn't seem credible at all. I couldn't find any editing errors in the pages I've read, but the story doesn't interest me enough to continue reading. The OBC review is favorable, though, so fans of the genre will probably enjoy the book.

I would not have chosen to sample Genesis apart from First Ten. There’s not much to say concerning that other than nothing really drew my interest when it came to the cover and title of this book. The blurb didn’t excite me either. For the most part, I’m not huge on romantic novels. Additionally, I was picky with a portion of the blurb, where it said that Alex would defy even God to save his significant other’s life. I guess, seeing as I come from a background of belief in God, I viewed Alex as a character I would personally not like to connect with in a story. The plot that I could pick out in the first few pages was enjoyable. However, I was not a fan of the profane language at times. I also thought that the relationship Alexander and Gwen shared was touching, especially his devotion to her. Still, I didn’t enjoy the moments when Alexander appeared too intense. To cut things short, I will have to pass on this book for some of the reasons I listed earlier. Genesis seemed professionally edited and I didn’t notice any grammatical errors.

If I had not read the sample, I would have read the book because this seems like my genre. However, I would have read the first book prior to reading this one. After reading the sample, I have not changed my mind. The writing was really great and I enjoyed how the main character's internal narration was written; for example, even though I did not have context, when the narrator was ranting about Ky, I could really feel his emotion. I did not read the official review but that did not affect my decision. The sample was professionally edited.

Had I not sampled the book, I would not have read it. I usually read pure romance books. However, the image on the cover (of a tree coming out of a sphere) caught my attention. Having read the sample, I was disappointed by how the actual content began immediately. There was no introduction to the book or to the author. Further, there was no table of contents. However, the very first sentence of the first chapter was a question that really made me think. I thought that it was a very strong start for the actual content. This, by itself, raised my interest in the book. I did not find any major grammatical errors. However, I would have liked more spacing between paragraphs. This would make the book easier to read. Since I do not read the genre usually, I will not be buying the book today.

I wanted to get into the story, but I didn’t care for the profanity. I know the characters are upset, but I still don’t like to read negative language if I don’t have to. That said, the idea of the story is pretty good. I like that the tree of life may be the cure for Gwen’s poisoning. I’m interested to find out more about Hannah and why she tried to kill Gwen. The cover and the image is very lovely and I was attracted by the title. However, the review did mention the profanity and some adult scenes, so despite the excellent editing, I’ll take a pass on this one.

Picking up a book that is volume two of a series is a daunting prospect, and I wasn’t sure if the story would make much sense to me. The online reviews did provide me with some background to the book, as well as assurances that this could be read as a stand-alone novel. The cover is great: it portrays the concept of Genesis, or rebirth, beautifully and I was charmed by the cover illustration. The first ten captured my interest immediately. The story launches straight into an intriguing plot and the three characters are well portrayed. I noticed no errors at all, and the story flowed smoothly and was most enjoyable. The best part of the first ten is the introduction. It is immediately arresting and it is impossible not to want to carry on reading. I didn’t quite enjoy the reference to the Tree of Life or its significance in the story. As someone who has studied the real Genesis account, I must say, I raised a figurative eyebrow at the idea, even though it is fairly original in popular fiction. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the sample. If I had loads of spare time, I might be tempted to read this book in its entirety. However, as it is, there are many books I would rather read in preference. I’m sure this one will be popular amongst lovers of fantasy romances.

"Genesis" by Bellamy Westbay begins with Alexander watching the love of his life, Gwen, suffering in agony. She had been poisoned by Hannah and Ky, and left for dead. His friend Jasper, Gwen and Alexander are now driving from Florida to California to find the Tree of Life, thought to provide immortality, via the fruit it grows. Our protagonist will have to obtain all 3 keys from the gatekeeper angels, in order to get to the tree. Then Gwen will survive. I would not have sampled the book by its cover, simply because it is the second in the series. I like to start at the beginning with series books, so I will not be finishing book 2. I do, however, want to get book 1 because it sounds like a fascinating series, judging from the onlinebookclub review I read. The author really explains the character's thoughts. I felt as though I was having Alexander's feelings of terrible guilt and revenge right along with him. I saw no typos in the first 10 pages, so it was probably professionally edited. All in all, I think it will be a very good series, and I would not change anything. Now I would like to go find book 1.

If I had not sampled the first ten pages of this book, I would have chosen to read it because of its title. This is because I'm a Christian. The title is the first chapter in the Bible. I would buy and read the whole book because of the supernatural theme present in the book.

Reading the first ten pages did not change my mind about buying the book. The book appears to have been professionally edited. What I like most in the bit I read was the love Alex had for Gwen.

I think a background information of the characters at the beginning of the book, would enhance the story. The book did not have an official OnlineBookClub review that I saw. The lack of an official OnlineBookClub review did not affect my decision.

The cover is creative and original. I will admit that I wouldn't have picked the book up, though, because neither the cover nor the title lets me know what it is about. When I read the sample, I was at first overwhelmed by the information given about the first book in the series. Although the author did a good job weaving the exposition into this story, there was a lot of it. A lot of it. I was ready to say no to this book, and then I got beyond the recaps. I'm in. I bought my copy immediately. I was intrigued by the characters and their powers, and I can't wait to meet Cassius. I may even start the book over so that I have the background information as I read. I look forward to seeing what happens with Alex, Gwen, and Jasper. The book is well-edited, and I found no errors. I have not read an OBC review of this book.

Genesis by Bellamy Westbay is the second book in The Infinity Series, and it picks up where the first book ended. Gwen is dying after being poisoned, and Alex (a fallen angel) and Jasper will do anything to save her. I am not a fan of fantasy and paranormal books, so I would not have chosen to read and sample the book based on the genre. After reading the sample, I did not change my mind. I must admit, however, that this book has many positive aspects. The story is told from multiple perspectives, making it easy for the reader to be invested in the story. The dialogues between the characters are realistic and engaging, and the author's writing style is pleasant to read and easy to follow. Also, the book seems to be professionally edited; I did not find any grammatical, spelling, or punctuation errors. Based on the official OBC review, Genesis is a well-written, entertaining novel. Undoubtedly, fantasy lovers will enjoy it.

I love the cover and title of this book. I remember hearing about the first book in this series. The plot sounds exciting and romantic. The first ten pages were professionally edited. I liked how the beginning started with love and loss. The main character seems very relatable in his reactions towards Jasper and Gwen. When I saw that this was the second book in a series, I didn't want to check it out without reading the first book. I feel like a lot has happened and it is always better to read the first book. I would've liked to know Gwen before reading about how Alex feels now that she is kind of gone. Alex and Jasper go on an adventure to find the Tree of Life, the only thing that can save Gwen. Them traveling through the universe seems interesting, but angel books are not something I usually read. And because it is the second book in the series, I am inclined to refuse to continue reading it. The sentence "I slipped into the back side Gwen" makes no sense.

I was intrigued by this book’s cover design, title, and blurb. The reviews were also encouraging. I would have chosen to read this book because I like reading paranormal romance. However, the sample seemed like a watered down love story that was cheapened by profanities and teenage notions. I really disliked this. Alex’s character was nothing like I expected a fallen angel to be. He was impulsive without reason, such as when he physically threatened Jasper and pushed him against the wall, knowing fully well that he was just trying to help Gwen. The tale surrounding the ‘Tree of Life’, its magical fruit, and the three gatekeeper angels seemed ridiculous amidst the childish characters. The clichéd phrases such as, ‘she stared at me like I was a steak’ were unsettling and added to my disdain for this story. One error that I spotted in the story was a missing comma after ‘friend’ in the phrase, ‘Beverly, Gwen’s best friend whose parents had been in an accident overseas’. Based on my reading experience, this is not a book I would buy and read.

'Genesis' is a book written by Bellamy Westbay. The title, blurb, the OBC review, and the customer reviews in Amazon did a good job of convincing me to give the book a try.

The first ten pages of the book leads me to believe that it is the second book of 'The Infinity Series'. Alex has rescued a poisoned, Gwen, and an injured, Jasper. Now they are on their way to retrieve the keys to The Tree of Life to save When’s life. Gwen no longer trusts Alex as he abandoned her to her soulmate, Ky, and darted after Hannah. Though, Alex has finally realized his love for her. On the other hand, Jasper is hiding a terrible secret. I liked Alex's character. His anguish was palpable. Also, the book is beautifully written. I like that. I did not find any error. I deem it to be professionally edited. I will give this book a try as I like the premise.

Based on the cover and genre, I would have sampled the book because the cover appealed to me and also because I often read books in this genre. After reading the official review, I sampled Genesis. Right away the story felt intense, with the poisoning of Gwen and Alex's desperate attempts (with the help of Jasper) to save her. I did not find any errors in the pages I read. I liked the author's writing style and found the narrative interesting, which is why I will be reading the rest of the book.

Although I enjoy fantasy series, I wouldn’t have chosen to read this book on my own. I have looked up the first book for some context and found the main character too much of a Gary Stu – rich, powerful, devastatingly sexy. Also, perfect, destined love isn’t really my cup of tea. While the book has an attractive flow and seems professionally edited, it appears juvenile because of Alex’s overly dramatic reaction to Gwen distrusting him. I won’t continue to read this book.

This book’s title made me curious. The description also sounded interesting. I like books that mix science fiction and fantasy with a quest plotline; though, I’m not big on paranormal books featuring angels. Before sampling, I thought about reading. After sampling, I’ll give this a try. The book appears professionally edited. I noticed no errors. The writing drew me in. From the first line, I felt Alex’s agony, both in watching Gwen suffer and realizing the agony he felt previously was nothing by comparison. The emotions in the writing kept my attention as the story moved forward into Alex feeling angry and then guilty for Gwen’s situation. The story moves at a perfect pace, and I found myself disappointed when the sample ended. I wanted to read more, which basically cemented my choice to read. I have no improvements to suggest. The OnlineBookClub.org didn’t give me a lot of specifics, so it didn’t really influence my decision. But I’d decided to read pretty much after the book description. The sample just confirmed.

I might have picked this book up on my own as the cover is very attractive and the blurb was intriguing. Having read the sample I won't be continuing on with this book since it is the second in a series and I haven't read the first book. The sample deals with Alex, who is enraged after a girl named Gwen has been poisoned. Alex and Gwen seem to have been involved romantically. Alex and his friend are in a desperate hurry to figure out how to save Gwen's life. The writing is pretty good. I didn't find any grammar errors in the sample and I was interested in the story. Those who haven't read the first book are going to struggle with this book though, as the action jumps right in. I have not read any other reviews for this book.

This looks like a fabulous book. I certainly would look more at this one, simply from the front cover. As I dove into the book, though, I discovered that the book truly relies on the reader knowing what happened in the first book. I really want to know more about what happened between Jasper, Gwen, Alex. It sounds like there is also some interesting history about “soul mates” that would be required reading for this one, too. Having not read the first book, I probably will not buy and read this one for a couple of reasons. First, I rarely buy books. If this were on Kindle Ultimate, sure, I’d be getting the first book to check it out, but I’m not interested enough to take a $3 gamble on the first book. The reason why has to do with the foul language in the first few pages of the second book. While I’m no stranger to foul language in my novels, it’s not my preference to read it. Seeing it so early puts me off because I believe foul language should be rarely used in literature. I just don’t care to spend extra money on something I’m not thrilled with. All that said, the editing was otherwise clean and I didn’t find any errors in this passage. It seems like an interesting series, and if it ever came up for free or on KU, I’d probably check it out.

I don't believe I would've sampled this book without the program because I'm very particular about which fantasies I read, and I wasn't convinced by the Amazon blurb that I'd like it. Plus, the cover and title show that it's the second book in a series, and I never start a series in the middle. After reading the first ten pages, my impression has stayed the same as I saw many references to the previous book that I didn't understand, such as Jasper getting in a fight and the love triangle between Ky, Gwen, and Alex. I actually was pulled in by the first ten pages, as I liked that Alex is an angel and that he's going to look for the keys to access the tree of life so he can save Gwen from the poison. I would not improve anything, but I won't be buying the book today because I prefer to start with the first one in the series. I do believe the book to be professionally edited as I didn't see any grammatical errors or typos.

I liked the book cover and title, but I wasn’t sure about reading the book or not. The Amazon Blurb described Alexander’s love was dying and that he would do anything to get the cure for her. I still wasn’t sure about the book, so I wanted to read the sample. Alex rescued Gwen and Jasper from kidnappers (Ky and Hannah, who poisoned Gwen.) I best liked that the story used the Tree of Life, guarded by three gatekeepers as the only way to cure Gwen. This sets up for a good adventure for them to “scour the multiverse” for the three keys to get admission to the Tree of Life. The book seemed to be edited well, as I did not notice any errors. Even though the OBC review mentioned that book two described the main things that happened in book one, I do not want to start reading book two before book one. I also did not necessarily like the curse words used in the book, especially since Alex is supposedly an angel. I will pass on this one for now.

The title is simple but the cover is eye-catching. It is volume 2 so without this program I would have skipped the sample because I do not like reading part two if I have not read part one. The summary, though, promised "modern-day twists" and I do enjoy retellings. I did not notice any errors while reading this sample. I like that the story started in the middle of the action: Gwen is dying, but we do not know why so we just get to see Jasper and Alex's reactions. The pacing was good, too, as we got to spend time to see things through Alex's eyes and then Jasper's; the lengths of the chapters helped me to get to know the characters better. I actually care about what happens to them so I want to read more.

I will definitely read this book. The first ten pages were very fast-paced and suspenseful. The author drops the reader in the middle of an intense situation and it was very difficult to put this book down. Near the end of the ten pages, it is revealed that one of the characters is an angel which was an unexpected turn in the storyline. I will definitely read this book. I thought the cover art was intriguing before reading the book, but after reading the first ten pages I understand the symbolism of the tree on the cover. I believe this book is professionally edited because I didn’t notice any errors. I have not read any reviews of this book yet. I will definitely read this book.

Alex, an angel, is on a mission to save the woman he loves after she was poisoned. Traveling from Florida to California by car because her weakened condition wouldn’t be able to tolerate a flight, he is accompanied by another man named Jasper. Gwen, Alex’s love interest, seemed to have been poisoned by another woman named Hannah who has run off with Ky. Ky and Gwen seemed to have been together, but Alex tells Gwen he will make things right. She responds by saying that he hurt her previously, and she is keeping her distance.

I liked the way the dialogue was written between the characters. Instead of a lot of explanation by the author, I was able to get to know the characters by their interactions.

I did not find any errors in punctuation, spelling or grammar so it would seem that this has been professionally edited. I won’t be finishing this one as I usually read the first book in a series, and with this being the second one, I felt like I was missing pieces from the first book. The author did a great job jumping right into the action, but I felt a little out of touch with the story because I hadn’t read the first book.

I probably wouldn’t have found this one on my own search without the online book club, so I appreciate the opportunity to have read the sample pages, and I will send it out on my social media for others to look into.

I wouldn't have picked the book on my own since this is the second in the series and I haven't read the first book. I didn't change my mind after sampling the book. Although the premise is interesting, it is too generic for my taste. The love between humans and angels isn't a new concept, and the book sounds too similar to others of its type. Although I didn't notice any glaring errors, I didn't care for the writing. This paranormal romance story revolves around the attempts of a fallen angel to save the life of a woman he fell in love with after she was poisoned by his enemies. I like that the author provided enough info about the first book so the reader won't get lost in the tale. I was intrigued to find out that Jasper isn't who he pretended up to be. Unfortunately, the plot does not interest me enough to keep reading. The official review didn't sway my decision either way.

Total ~ 30%

Genesis (The Infinity Series, Vol.2) earned a score of 30%.

In other words, out of the top-level reviewers who read at least the first 10 pages of this book, 30% plan to read the whole book.

IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable.

Over a million books are published each year. Any given person could not even read .0001% of the books out there. This means readers have to be very selective. Even taking the time to look over reviews and blurbs, let alone read samples, is more time than most readers can afford for most books. The First Ten is a powerful focus group that addresses those issues. It creates a helpful tool for authors, publishers, and other readers.
