The book Who Told You That You Were Naked? A Refreshing Reexamination of the Garden of Eden is about the sin committed by the first man and woman created by God and its implication to their descendants –who are all of humanity. The author, Reverend William Combs, describes the beautiful life of Adam and Eve before sin in the Garden of Eden followed by the temptation by the snake and their disobedience resulting to their feeling of nakedness and separation from God. The book revolves around the concepts of sin, faith, and salvation derived from the story of Adam and Eve.

What I like about this book is how it portrays the story of the Garden of Eden creatively despite being a too familiar story. Reverend Combs, being a minister in a Presbyterian church, retells the biblical scenarios with his own educated and elaborated version. He dissects the actions and words of each character. He explains the reasons behind the characters' decisions and behaviors by showing the thoughts running through their minds which makes them relatable.

The book has a good discussion on the misconceptions and truths about sin and faith. The author elaborates and gives more context to overlooked Bible verses. It is an eye-opener for those who encounter the insights for the first time. At the same time, it is a good reminder for those already accustomed to these.

The book bridges the gap between how man views God from the biblical era and God from the modern era. People perceive the God who had done miracles in the past out in the open as more real and capable. In the book, Reverend Combs' testimonies talk about the miracles he has experienced and witnessed in this modern era. These serve as proofs that God is the same then and now. His testimonies show how God creates miracles and communicates to people in different ways.

I would give this book 4 out of 4 stars. It is creatively written and at the same time, informative with Bible verse references. Although the latter part of the book has long Bible verses, the smooth flow of ideas doesn't make the reading dull. The author elaborates the verses enough for easier grasping of context. Each chapter's end discussion questions allow a pause to process concepts for better comprehension. I would recommend this book to Christians who would like to have more insights about the topics of sin, faith, and salvation.

This sounds like an interesting book. I like the point of God being the same then and now - I suppose bible stories make us see it differently. I'm not a huge fan of religious books, so I will give this one a skip. But I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for a great review :)
