MECE (Mutually Exclusive and Collectively Exhaustive) Muse by Christie Lindor is a book targeted at those who are aspiring to lunch out into the consulting business and those who are already in the business. This book will enhance the conditioning an individual has about consulting to a large measure . In chapter one Christie talked about making manners your competitive advantage, that topic itself is an asset that worth reading over and over again. From the very first page, I was already getting excited because of the potentials locked up in this book.
Undoubtedly, this is one well-written memoir. The author shares her experiences of over fifteen years in the area of consulting to give aspiring or practicing consultants informed perspectives that will help them maximize their opportunities as consultants, how customers experiences are the next competitive background and it's where business is going to be lost or won.
The book describes a technique on how business problems are visualized and understood in other to solve the fundamental cause. With the practices shared in this book you will learn the mindset of great consultants, how great consultants are conditioned for success and ways to create a sustainable consulting career which I believe are needed by every consultant.
In the last chapter of this book, the author successfully described how to prepare for consulting in the future. Making emphasis on how great consultants will always be in demand as a result of the pending boom of artificial intelligence that will rapidly hit every single industry and sector at large, the paradigm shift toward micro-entrepreneurship where individuals will inevitably drive their career through projects instead of full-time jobs and the rise of niche boutique firms positioning them self to gain strong in the consulting market store.
The author included twenty-one interviews that represents a combined four hundred and twenty-plus years of experience raging from newly promoted partners to those recently retired and well trusted advisors that shapes and influences the landscape across eighteen industries in every corporate function in the fortune 500 and beyond, so that individuals can learn firsthand through their experiences. Thus her writings are more of practical steps than theoretical, that one will take in other to escape being a point on sale consultant (POS), role playing consultant to becoming a great
consultant.
In view of the mind blowing and challenging ideas I see in this book, I am rating it 4 out of 4. The
author does not just know about consultancy she understands it. Therefore I highly recommend this
book to women who are seeking to create a work-life balance as consultants and to all those who
are about to lunch out or are already in the world of consulting, in other to leverage this time tested
truth shared by the author.
