My Trip To Adele is a deep story of how music and lyrics can help sort out our deepest, and sometimes darkest emotions. Through the lives of six individuals and their difficult romantic relationships, we are exposed to how one artist can grasp the emotions of people internationally. Set in completely different countries, the story depicts the similar emotions love can result in and the relatability of the lyrics in Adele's songs, regardless of culture. This story explores how music can affect us on a deeper level and can help us to see things we did not once see.

Mariam and her husband, Yaser, struggle to find meaning in their marriage after 8 boring years. They look back at their relationship with a feeling of emptiness and despair. As their relationship becomes more riddled with arguments and rigidness, they seek professional help, opening up old wounds in an attempt to heal as one. When Yaser has just about made up his mind to end their relationship, after professional help and more failed attempts, his wife speaks to him of a higher faith. He is reminded that it is her faith that drew him to her in the first place, and is faced with a dilemma of whether to return or not.

Elias' long search for Malika, a woman he only met a few times years ago and had fond memories of, but who struck a chord with him, depicts the power of true love. Although he couldn't explain his feelings or see reason to his search for her, he continued despite knowing he may never find her. The unknown source of his emotions is what kept him going, looking for Malika as well as answers to why he felt what he did for her.

Nadia's divorce and unrelenting protection of her son pierces the world of feminism in a positive way. In a society where women are undervalued and never allowed to talk back to a man, she goes against all odds to protect her son. Her strong will to fight for what matters most to her, despite being called disrespectful and being shunned from her family, is uplifting for any reader.

The story of My Trip To Adele, tells a powerful story of how relationships can twist and turn us and how far one would go for true love. It explores how artists can affect people worldwide, feeding on similar emotions and difficulties in the lives of all. It addresses issues many people involved in romantic relationships find themselves asking at some point and is realistic in that not all 3 relationships survived the turmoil of love.

I would rate this book 3 out of 4 as it is captivating and keeps you wanting more. Definitely a page-turner, the author seeks to keep you interested with themes of long-lost love, lust and the end of love. It is inspiring in that even though not all three relationships endured, the individuals each found some sort of peace and clarity in Adele's music, reiterating the fact that music can affect our souls.
