“Who Told You That You Were Naked?” Is “A Refreshing Reexamination of The Garden of Eden” by a retired Presbyterian minister and author William E. Coombs.The book is published by Carpenter’s Son Publishing. The book commences with an autobiography and later, the narration which contains dramatization which helps the reader to familiarize more with the characters, enhance understanding and scripture quotations from The ESV Bible, The Holy Bible, English Standard Version – with an overall intention to understand events that occurred in the Garden of Eden to develop and familiarize with fall of mankind, concept of sin and redemption of mankind.

God came to meet Adam to show him a place he had prepared for him and as Likely accompanied them, God notices how Adam is lonely and how Likely cannot provide the kind of companionship Adam desires. God causes Adam to fall into deep sleep and takes a rib from him and creates his companion. As Adam wakes up, he is delighted with his companion and calls him “Wo-man” for she was created from his flesh and bone. Eve. With Eve, comes the story of eating the forbidden fruit through listening to the serpent’s counsel.She also advices Adam to go contrary to God’s command and he eats the forbidden fruit as well in a bid to be like God. This angers God and causes Him to throw them out of the Garden.The main reason why they sinned against God causes their offspring Cain to kill Abel his brother. The author helps us understand the need to reexamine the occurrences at The Garden of Eden, how Adam’s plight to God causes the need for a savior – Jesus, Faith in Jesus, how embracing faith acts as a compass to enable a Christian avoid a life of sin which leads to death, and the selfless humble act of denying yourself pleasures of this world, taking your cross to follow Jesus is the redemption of mankind.

I like this book because it is very informative to a Christian.Apart from the story of the fall of mankind, like every other good book, it gives a happy promising ending to the reader because of the savior Jesus and the redemption of mankind. The author, through this book also dismisses the age old belief that disobedience was the cause of the fall of mankind and tributes it to Adam’s and Eve’s conviction of not being like God and their desire to measure up to their Creator. The author is also able to skillfully introduce new topic and themes and move on to them swiftly and consistently.

As much as this book is enlightening and easy to be understood by a Christian with a basic understanding of the Bible, for an atheist or an inquisitive Christian, it's not the same. The author doesn’t take an initiative to give a brief history of the Garden of Eden like other authors would do. It seems as though the author seemed to have a Christian with deeper understanding of the Bible in his mind while writing this book. Also, with today’s perverted generation which seems to stereotype and relate everything to the secular world and pornography, the title of the book is a little compromising.

It is of no doubt to me that this book is written by a wise man of God full of knowledge, wisdom and understanding. This book has also been skillfully written and enriched with so much information that is logic and informative to the reader and due to these reasons, I will rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to all christians who seek a deeper understanding of their faith and to non-Christians who seek an understanding of Christianity as a religion.

Hi, Dhahabu! Thanks for your thoughts on this Christian book.

The title was a statement made by no other than God the Father in the Bible story. I think the author chose it because it is truly attention-getting. (This is one of his many creative ways of making his message stick.) Thankfully, the subtitle immediately settles the issue, and the apple tree on the cover proclaims the book's chastity. LOL

Hey Miriam Molina, thanks for taking time to read my review. I see the sense in what you are saying, I understood this prior to your enlightment and I couldn't agree more with you. I loved the subtitle as well because it supports the title. But there are traditionalists and atheists who have no single clue about the Bible, let alone to talk about a Garden called Eden. (So much for your LOL)
