The Human Condition by Mark Taylor
Horror/Mystery Novel

I. Summary
This novel is a compilation of short horror stories that keep the reader guessing and on the edge of their seat. Each character is introduced in their individual way to the reader. While the climax of each short story always results in a gruesome fate, each is unique and unpredictable. From vampires to serial killers, this novel is intriguing from the start!

II. Unfavorable Reactions
The only reaction I had to these short stories that I would classify as "unfavorable," would be the simple fact that there were a handful of grammatical/typing errors throughout the text. However, this is an easy fix, with some light editing.

III. Favorable Reactions
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel from start to finish. It held my interest and kept me turning the page, even when I should have been asleep! The suspense the author builds is very appropriate for the type of book they chose to write. I enjoyed getting to know the author's style throughout their text. Knowing that each story would have a thrilling ending, while still being surprised is very unique and something the author has clearly mastered.

I also enjoyed the manner in which the author pulled me into each story. For example, the short story revolving around a man becoming a serial killer. The author describes stabbing several women in a horrible and careless process. Even though these murders are sickening to the reader, the author does such a good job at pulling at the reader to understand and really feel empathy for the killer. It is a thrilling experience in and of itself!

IV. Author's Style
As previously stated, the author has a distinct style throughout the stories. The author has an evident pattern of letting the reader become intimate with each of his characters and never failing to end in a twist. I appreciate the detail he puts into each character and every scene he presents.

V. Rating
I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. The reason for this rating is that I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel. It held my interest the entire time and never once could I predict an ending! The stories each made sense, and flowed with good writing skills.

VI. To Whom
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys suspense and/or a good twist. The tone of the stories range from mild horror to gruesome, therefore the audience must be mature enough for the content.
