“Best Enemy” by Jean-Michel Désiré is an interesting book that narrates the story of Tara Hawkins, who receives a call from a man she met years back at a psychic convention in Sachseln, Switzerland. The caller, known as Philemon LeQuellec, is a rich Frenchman, owner of a winery, and into art collections. Why does he request Tara to visit him urgently at his residence in France? And why does he foresee his death? Get a copy now to find out these hidden mysteries.

This book is a mind-blowing piece, as it has taken me to depths and thoughts I had never thought of exploring. It involves numerous characters and seamlessly blends religion, technological advancements, the supernatural, and so on. In this book, twelve collectors from different parts of the world were murdered within a specific period of time. There are so many puzzles and mysteries, which seem a hard nut to crack. Why are the twelve collectors being murdered, and why does it look like they all accepted their fate? The book’s deep dive into historical tales and legends shows the author has put a great deal of research into compiling this book. I admire Ghost’s character as he joins hands with Tara the psychic to solve this great mystery.

From this book, I learnt that for an evil plan to be successfully carried out, an insider is required to be part of the whole ploy, such as in the case of General Bittencourt, who worked closely with Jacobson. When I started reading the book, I felt bored due to Theresa Churchill’s presentation on plagues and pandemics. However, events started becoming interesting as Bruce Mannix and his wife, Ariana, get brutally murdered at his sixty-fifth birthday in California, where they planned to spend the rest of their retirement.

There are some aspects that didn’t sit well enough with me. Due to the high number of characters in the book, I found it quite a hassle trying to keep up with their identities and actions. Again, much depth isn’t given to the characters’ backgrounds, which I believe is because there were more salient points to discuss, such as ‘the challenge of the best enemy’, ‘the dehumaniser’, and so many other factors. Furthermore, I found many errors, which quite affected my reading experience. Therefore, I rate it 3 out of 5 stars, and there’s no justification for any further reduction.

I recommend this book to lovers of history, intriguing tales, science, technological advancements, tarot readings, and psychics, with some elements of romance. It is also best suited for a mature audience because of its use of profane words.

Jean-Michel Désiré's "Best Enemy" is a compelling and thought-provoking book that explores the intricacies of power dynamics, loyalty, and interpersonal relationships. Désiré skillfully examines the fuzziness of the boundaries between friendship and hostility, showing how easily affection may change into anger through the tale of two former friends who became fierce competitors. "Best Enemy" captivates readers with its vibrant prose, complex characters, and gripping plot, leaving them wondering about the true nature of the protagonists' poisonous friendship. This psychological thriller is a must-read for anybody who enjoy twisting, character-driven fiction because it offers a fascinating look into the darker sides of human interaction.

"The Dog Comes With The Practice: Expanded Second Edition: Tales of a Junior Doctor in Ireland and Canada" by Tom Baskett is a memoir that chronicles his journey from a medical student to a seasoned GP. It covers his transition from American to Irish schooling, his struggles and triumphs in medical school, and his experiences in obstetrics. The book is praised for its engaging narrative, emotional depth, and humor, particularly in how Baskett conveys his commitment and empathy toward his patients. However, it suffers from numerous editing errors and some non-chronological event sequencing. Despite these issues, it is recommended for those interested in the medical field, earning a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.

*Best Enemy* by Jean-Michel Désiré sounds like a complex and intriguing read, blending mystery, history, and the supernatural. I appreciate your insights into the plot and characters, though it's a shame about the numerous errors and the overwhelming number of characters. It sounds like it would appeal to readers who enjoy multi-layered stories with a touch of the supernatural and historical intrigue.
