The narrative revolves around the theme of navigating the loss of a loved one due to illness, feelings of helplessness, and the struggle to uphold faith during times of turmoil. The story unfolds with the experiences of a young couple, Joey and Brooke, who fall in love and marry with hopes of a blissful life together. Brooke, a devout believer, and Joey, a non-believer, both carry histories and coping strategies that lead them to seek comfort in each other.

Tragically, Brooke, who experienced the loss of her mother at a young age, was diagnosed with cancer during her pregnancy. Resolved to confront the illness after the birth of their child, it becomes apparent that their battle is a daunting one. Despite Brooke's unwavering faith, Joey, who endured the tragic loss of his parents in a car accident at a young age, struggles to reconcile his belief in God and the occurrence of miracles. As Brooke's condition worsens, Joey grapples with an impending loss. The narrative follows Joey's odyssey, encompassing his interpersonal and spiritual ties and the destiny of his ten-month-old daughter, Sara. 

Johnny M. Sanchez has authored the book Cancer, Faith & Butterflies. He dedicated it to those who have succumbed to cancer and those currently in the throes of battle. Sanchez's compassionate depiction, borne from personal encounters with the trauma of patients and their helpless families and caregivers, establishes a profound connection with readers. I admire how Sanchez expertly intertwines multiple storylines, seamlessly blending the tales of Jimmy, Billy, Rose, and Harry, alongside supporting characters such as Uncle Phil and Carroll, with the primary narrative. While the text contains minor errors, it does not detract from its overall quality. Although these errors do not warrant a reduction in rating, I recommend a re-edit, as an error-free book will elevate the reader's experience. I have nothing negative to say about this book. The stirring and gripping account, featuring robust characterizations and parallel narratives, warrants a maximum rating of five out of five stars.

Potential readers should be mindful of sensitive content related to sexual abuse, alcoholism, and violence, rendering this narrative best suited for mature audiences. Despite being categorized as a romance novel, the book navigates themes of faith, grief, betrayal, and anger, underscored by profound interpersonal relationships with family, friends, and acquaintances. It ensures a compelling read for individuals combating grief and those drawn to faith-centered literature.

Romance is not quite the genre I'd like to read. But this book seems to be emotional. The part where you said about cancer during pregnancy, it's really tragic! I'm afraid, if I do give this book a chance, will I cry?
