Jean Hackensmith @ Joseph McDowell’s book Exodus is an extraordinary book circulating in the science-fiction genre. It tells the story of the pending destruction of Earth and the survivors, who are keen to find a new world to live in. The themes raised in this book are hope, bravery, and survival, among many others. It raises many questions, not just questions about our world, but the major question that needs to be asked is: What would we do if we found out that the world was to be destroyed in just under 5 years? This book tells the story of a star, known as Ulysses, heading for Earth around April 14, 2028, leaving 5 years for the characters to find and scramble a new planet to live on and provide essentials just like planet Earth. Will the characters be able to find hope and success before their time runs out?

In this novel, we are introduced to 2023, when a star known as Ulysses is travelling for Earth, causing an impending disaster in 2023, giving the survivors five years to find a solution. This book introduces us to a plethora of people who carry the story forward. One of them is Garrett Long, whose character, like the president, Rebecca McCann, had a significant impact on the book. Rebecca McCann was my favourite character in this book, as she demonstrated greater willingness and bravery. The sacrifices she had made proved how strong and brave she was. This book was action-packed, and each page was covered in intense scenes, suspense, and thrills, which is something I love in books. If this sounds like something you are interested in, you should read this book.

There are many positive attributes to this book. For instance, the language is clear, comprehensive, and easy to understand. Furthermore, there were no errors, which not only proved the book was well-edited but also contributed to my pleasant reading experience. The character's development was also appreciated. As previously stated, I enjoyed the character of President Rebecca McCann. It was clear she was brave and courageous considering what was going on, beginning to end. Furthermore, I also like the character of Mandy. I liked the questions she began asking; they, in my opinion, helped to drive the story and helped me to understand the type of character she is. The writing style in this book is also commendable; it is a great fit for the book. The flow of the book was also great.

There is nothing to dislike. There were no errors, meaning the book was well-crafted and well-edited. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

In summary, I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. First, I loved the book. The characters were likeable, and all did their bit to help with the problem at hand. Secondary characters such as Mandy and Kylie were a great asset to the book too. Considering all the positive attributes and the fact that I had found no negatives, I could only give the book the highest rating. I think that the book resonates with those young readers who enjoy science fiction.
