All Body Bags and No Knickers is a book that makes you think about the world. As a Canadian we have many beautiful cultures here, but Shawe Ruckus have given me more cultural appreciation than my own country. I loved the way he described Japan and their days of the week. "And I have a perfect way for you to remember them. People get paid on Friday, the Day of Gold. You get your pay and you spend it all on happy hours, so you have nothing left for Saturday, so it's the Day of soil. Sunday, you sleep to midday, wake up, and see the sun at noon, so it's the Day of Sun. And on Monday, the Day of the Moon, you look at the moon to distract yourself from feeling hungry. Tuesday came, and your kind neighbour gives you and ear of corn, so you roast it on the cob, so it's the Day of Fire. Wednesday came, and you are so hungry, but you can only drink water, hence the Day of Water, and Thursday, the Day of Wood, you have to bite a chunk of your door frame, but voilà!" he enacted, "Friday came, and you have gold coins in your pocket again!" " It is writing like that or making a moment like this that really makes you remember a book.
You follow Catherine and her Fiancée then husband through their lives and friendships. The world seems pretty bright and beautiful through their wedding and then the honeymoon starts. With this comes many ups and downs; the joys of meeting new people, the tranquility of having and being with your love and unfortunately death. Ghost night may be a night when the spirits wander, but so do secrets.
I found this book a really hard review because I really wanted to love every part of it. I mean who doesn't love crime, adventure, suspense and culture? But to me the details that made the book truly incredible also slowed the story down. The details in every sentence were so descriptive but because of that not a lot happened in the book itself, story line wise. I would recommend this book as a 3 out of 5. This immaculately edited book took me on a charming adventure that left me only wanting more. Thank you for all the hard work it took to make this work of art. Jump with me into a family you didn't know you had, friends you didn't know you needed, places you didn't know existed and culture you'll be sad you didn't embrace sooner with All Body Bags and No Knickers; Mercenaries in Suit Book 3 by Shawe Ruckus.
