The book, Dollarhide, by R. W. Frazier was a pleasantly surprising book to read. Honestly, I had no idea what the title was a reference to, and it was interesting that the author titled the book after the town that the story took place in. The book had many plot twists that I was not expecting. I really enjoyed reading about the interactions between the group of three Army veterans, the Prairie View Gang, and the Elm Forest Gang. I thought that the author did a very good job of displaying the interactions these groups of people had, as well as how they interacted with the rest of the townsfolk who lived nearby.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book. I thought the book had three very solid storylines with each group, and he did a fantastic job of combining them together seamlessly. The author was able to grab my attention from the beginning of the book and hold it until the very end. The characters also had very clear and well-written character arcs that showed great character development. Additionally, I did not see any typos or grammatical errors. This is a testament to the exceptional editing that was completed to the book prior to publication.

The only thing that I did not like in the book was how in-depth the author was at times with details that I felt were unnecessary to the plot of the story. At times, some of the explanations of things lasted for an extended period of time, and this seemed unnecessary to the overall plotline of the story. However, at the end of a situation, you would see how the information actually was useful to the story for some of the explanations. I also felt that the ending seemed a little rushed, but I liked that the author was able to sum up the entire book and give a satisfying ending.

I would rate this book four out of five stars for the reasons I stated above. I felt the book had a strong plotline with well-written characters, but could be improved with the minor suggestions I mentioned earlier.

I would recommend this book to any readers who are interested in books with plot twists. It should be noted that there is some profanity used in the book and instances of death that may not be suitable for younger readers.
