I recently became nervous about planning for retirement and wanted to make sure I knew what to expect and how to plan for it. When I saw that this book was available, I was very excited to start it. I’m in my 30s but it is the perfect time to make sure I understand what will happen and how to actively prepare for retirement. I have a 401K through work, life and disability insurance, and an IRA and I recently started became curious about mutual funds. The author has a very friendly tone in his writing so it’s easy to understand the material. His tone is warm and sounds like a very smart friend just giving you an FYI about all this stuff, which made the reading go by quickly and easily. The chapters of the book were well thought out and organized which made the material easier to understand; you could see how each point the author made related to each other. Reading this book has made me happy that I’ve considered all the things I should and have taken good steps to make sure my retirement is well funded.

I learned a lot of information I hadn’t considered about how marriage and having a working spouse can affect what you get from social security. I wanted to read the book as kind of a fact-finding mission. I feel like people who are closer to retirement age will get a lot out of the book since it includes advice and links for additional information and resources, which is helpful if you are actively looking to take the next steps to retire.

I did not notice any curse words or vulgar language, and I did not find any typos while reading the book, either. There are some fun page breaks in the book with jokes which I very much appreciated! I’m very glad I read the book overall.

This book is unique to me. It is one of the very few financial advising authors that talked about retirement. It jolted me to the reality that I won't remain in my prime forever. So I will do my best to apply the suggestions given in this book on how to plan for retirement.
