"The Prism Effect" was an effortless read due to the speed of the rapidly evolving storyline.
I enjoyed the fast-paced start to the book and how it carried you forward into the next chapters. The author has an impressive sense of style of how to concisely move the story in an exciting manner. There were no parts of the book that stagnated, I enjoyed the ease of immersing myself into the story.
Due to the speed of the storyline, some of the issues in the book seemed to lack the needed history on how they came about. Several issues were not clear or were slightly confusing due to the lack of background on them being explained. I would have liked to see a bit more detailed history of how the characters ended up where they were at the start of the book.
While I thought the character development was fair, some of the characters seemed to stall out in the middle of the story. Some further interaction between characters or backgrounds on them would have been helpful. Several characters seem to have no purpose in the story other than being used to take up space. A few of the interactions between characters seemed unnaturally deep for their not known each other before said moment.
All of the explanations at the end of the book seemed rather anticlimactic, and further explanations would have benefited the reader. The ending seems to be rather slapdash as a way of wrapping the story up. The book would have benefitted from an extra chapter or two after the grand climax. I, as a reader was left wanting more, I hope that the author makes this a series as that would make more sense on how things ended up. All in all quite an interesting read and I would have to give the book an above-average rating for the lack of typos and originality.
