All Body Bags and No Knickers by Shawe Ruckus is a thrilling and fast-paced story centring on Chance Yang, an M&A consultant, and Catherine Roxborough, a part-time florist. The narrative explores themes of mystery, secrets, and unexpected turns. Chance Yang, a proficient problem solver with unique talents, embarks on a mission to uncover the truth behind a series of suspicious deaths, willingly putting himself in perilous situations. His resourcefulness and cunning are repeatedly tested as he navigates a complex web of secrecy.

In contrast, Catherine Roxborough, a strong-willed and independent woman, becomes entangled in the investigation. Her unyielding curiosity and determination drive her to seek the truth, even when her safety is at risk. The book shines a spotlight on the evolving partnership between Chance and Catherine as they collaborate to unravel the mysteries and confront various challenges. Their contrasting personalities and skills harmonize effectively, making them a formidable and engaging duo in their quest for answers.

What appeals to me in this book is Catherine's character dynamics. Her relatable and genuine nature is truly commendable. She's portrayed as a grounded individual with a delightful sense of humour and a sincere affection for her cat, Mr. Darcy. Catherine's enthusiasm and knack for forging connections with others over shared interests, like their mutual love for Downton Abbey, add to her charm and relatability for readers, myself included. Moreover, her personal development throughout the narrative, as she navigates relationships and confronts her inner insecurities, renders her a captivating character I grew fond of. I recommend this book to readers who appreciate relatable, well-developed characters, a blend of humour and mystery, and character growth in their stories.

The part of this book that I strongly dislike and would love to change revolves around Chance's secretive nature, particularly in his interactions with Catherine. His involvement in mysterious cases and association with questionable individuals like his boss, Felipe, greatly troubled me. I wish for more transparency in his character, as his evasiveness creates unnecessary tension and mistrust within the narrative. Additionally, his occasional flirtatious and playful demeanour feels out of place and distracting in a story that could benefit from a more serious and straightforward approach. These aspects of Chance's character detract from my overall enjoyment of the book, and I would eagerly welcome alterations that provide a clearer, more authentic portrayal of his role in the story.

I gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars due to its compelling characters, particularly Catherine, whose relatability and growth make her outstanding. The blend of humour, intrigue, and mystery in the narrative is impressive. Although some may find Chance's secretive nature and flirtatiousness divisive, these elements contribute to the story's depth. Overall, the book's well-developed characters and engaging plot warrant a top rating. The book was exceptionally well-edited and error-free.
