Pandemics & other P-words: How the Lockdown became my Launchpad, written by Karen E. Solomon, explains the journey the author experienced as she navigated through a job change, a pandemic, and many other trials. Throughout this book, the author describes her experiences with quippy remarks and thoughtful observations. She also continuously offers sound advice about love, overcoming adversity, and self-acceptance in the form of life lessons she learned as she navigated through intense situations and life-changing challenges.

I greatly enjoyed the humorous observations the author used throughout her writing. Even though the story was a bit slow at times, the random and hilarious quips never failed to get a chuckle from me. I also liked how the author was able to laugh at herself and share funny stories at her own expense, such as when she attempted to trim the fringe of her hair, and it turned out less than ideal.

I thought the author's use of listing her points throughout her book was also very helpful. After reading through a section of the book, the author would summarize and reiterate important lessons she wanted to share with the audience in the form of a list. These bullet point lists also made the lessons easy to read and understand.

One of my favorite comparisons in this book is when the author compares life to a developing story. I believe that thinking of life as a story that is still being written is very motivational and relatable for people who do a lot of reading. This statement stuck with me the entire time I was reading, and I will probably continue to think of this sound advice for many more years.

There were parts of this book that seemed to drag a bit. Even though most of this book was filled with entertaining and educational stories, some parts just seemed to progress a little too slowly, and the slow-moving progress made it difficult to focus during those sections. However, as I was reading, I noticed no grammatical errors, as this book was exceptionally well edited.

Due to the reasons listed above, I rate Pandemics & other P-words: How the Lockdown became my Launchpad 4 out of 5 stars. This would be a terrific book for anyone looking for casual reading material to pass the day. This book would also be very encouraging for people who feel as if they have fallen into a slump.
