Review for Purpose: Design A Community & Change Your Life
by Carol Marmaduke (March 15, 2023)

As someone who grew up in an era before lightning speed internet and fingertip access to a world of social media sites, this book reminded me of those times when community groups were a tangible part of society and not just digital scroll groups. Purpose: Design A Community & Change Your Life by Gina Bianchini is one of those books that reminds you of the power of community and how it's fueled by discovering your true purpose in life, making a better world for everyone.

Similar to the old African proverb that states, "It takes a village to raise a child", Gina Bianchini shows you that it takes a village to make your ideal world come into reality, composed of a community of others who share the same goals and beliefs. Not only does the author give you a detailed blueprint for discovering your own purpose in modern life, but she also holds your hand while you get there with encouragement and gentle prodding.

The book is broken down into three parts: finding your purpose, turning your purpose into action and taking your purpose digital. There's also a glossary at the end of the book to help define the concepts used, as well as an encouraging conclusion that invites you to share your own future story you've created based on the prompts included in the book by using the link purpose.co.

I found this book encouraging. I loved how the author writes in down-to-earth, witty bits of knowledge and experience that make you laugh, make you think, and even more encourages you to take action. I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars because I feel,Part III: Take Your Purpose Digital, could have been a book all its own. Even though the author is clear at the conclusion of part two that the reader could stop there and still have the tools to create their future story, part three feels like you need to fasten your seatbelt because there's so much to learn in such a short amount of time.

This book brings back old school networking with a modern twist that fully embraces technology and the ever-changing world around us. I would suggest this book to anyone who needs direction in breaking out of the mundane and into a life with purposeful action. The author's guidance and flexibility to varied life situations makes this a great fit for almost anyone seeking to better the world around them. Bianchini states in the book that this is her first writing experience, and she doesn’t claim to be an author, but I beg to differ. Her style of writing is a welcome departure from most other self-help books I’ve read and, as for me, I’m waiting for the second book.
