Tyler's Promised Gift, is a great children's book that symbolizes many virtues and values. The main characters are Tyler, a good rabbit, and his mother. Mother Rabbit instills several virtues and values in Tyler. His mother promises to give him a gift for his birthday if he is a good rabbit. While waiting for his special birthday present, Tyler shows patience being a good rabbit. He is not begging or asking for the promised toy but waits for his birthday. He demonstrates cleanliness and responsibility, by keeping his toys picked up and listening to his mother. Tyler continues to demonstrate these virtues and values throughout this book wanting to be a good rabbit. Toward the end of the book, his mom gives Tyler a birthday party. He invites six friends to come over to celebrate Tyler's birthday. Tyler shows gratitude for the presents he receives. One of his friends, Freddy, brings his little brother, Elmer. Tyler shows compassion toward the sad young rabbit, Elmer. Tyler gives Elmer his most cherished present. Tyler notices Elmer is happy and no longer sad. Tyler feels joy when his mother and friends sing happy birthday. This is the best birthday a good young rabbit could ask for.
I enjoyed this story about a good young rabbit and the values he shows throughout the book. I loved discovering all the virtues and values Tyler shows; the author cleverly introduced these virtues and values. The illustrations are simple yet colorful. This cute and cleverly written book about a good young rabbit learning and demonstrating virtues and values. Tyler's Promised Gift is a must-read for children of all ages. This book is 4 out of 5 stars, highly recommended.
