Review of A Dream For Peace
A Dream For Peace is a biography written by Ghoulem Berrah about the accounts of events of his entire life. Ghoulem starts by describing the type of family he grew up in and his relationship with his mother. He described his mother as loving, caring, and supportive.
Growing up during the colonial era, he witnessed and also experienced a lot of racism from the French colonies. Seeing how Algerians were being treated by their colonial masters, he joined Overseas Students Organizations and also created groups that were against the colonial system; when he went for further studies in France, he became an activist. He was appointed diplomatic role by the president of Cote d’Ivoire to settle African disputes. The author has given so many accounts of events that I cannot cover in this review; I would encourage you to read the book to get all the details.
I liked the writing style of this book as it had a perfect flow; it was also enthralling reading about the struggle for Algerian independence. As much as it was a memoir, the author managed to engage his audience and made reading the book more interesting.
What I would say about this book is that it had complex terms that were difficult to read and also to understand for an average person. It would have been easier if the author had a glossary of the terms for his readers. I wouldn’t describe that as a negative comment but rather a suggestion; I liked every bit of the book.
The book was professionally edited, and I did not encounter any grammatical mistakes. I, therefore, rate A Dream Foe Peace a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. I did not find any reason to deduct a star. In recommendation, A Dream For Peace would be fit for those who are enthralled with histories and biographies.
