The wind of a revolutionary change always blows when freedom fighters emerge, saying enough is enough of the marginalization and racism, either among different ethnic groups or tribes in a country or in a country under colonial rule. Freedom fighters are those who are willing to sacrifice anything for the freedom and peace of their country, not minding the cost. A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah will open your eyes to the amazing sacrifices freedom fighters made for the sake of their country's peace.

Aziz, an ardent Muslim from Algeria who is known as Ghoulem, was given a full scholarship to attend medical school in France, where he made numerous friends from Algeria and other French-colonized northern African countries, such as Morocco and Tunisia. There they planned to rescue their people from the racism and marginalization they suffered at the hands of the French government. Ghoulem endured hell as a result and came under threat from the French government; he was once imprisoned while returning home to visit his ailing mother, but he never gave up. They form different forums and groups, hold political seminars, and make outreaches in solidarity, sensitizing their people across communities, universities, and countries. He works for a short while after graduating before heading to the US to further his education. At the end of the storyline, Ghoulem became famous in Africa as a whole.

The storyline is a memoir and a narrative of real-life experiences documented by the author, which is what interests me most and, as such, forms parts of the positive aspects of the book. The author's choice of words in simple English without ambiguity makes the story easier for the reader to comprehend. The book is interesting and full of emotion, imagination, and empathy. There are lots of pictures, which is a convincing sign to the reader that the story is based on true events.

Lessons from this storyline are innumerable. I discovered that it could only take selfless service and love for one to make such huge sacrifices; the love Ghoulem had for his people was so enormous that he had to suffer for their freedom and peace. I learned the qualities of a freedom fighter and, as such, emulated Ghoulem for his optimism. I also realized that determination and perseverance are keys to success, especially when one's vision is sold to people of like minds who are willing to pursue the goal. Lastly, I discovered that Ghoulem became a hero because many African leaders recognized his contributions.

Since I couldn't identify any drawbacks or negative aspects of the book, I didn't dislike any element of the plot and therefore enjoyed every part of it. This book doesn't contain any profane words. There are no typos or grammatical errors, so it was exceptionally well-edited. I give the book a score of 5 out of 5 stars due to the aforementioned reasons. I recommend the book to people who wish to become freedom fighters and to those who enjoy reading history books. I also recommend it to historians and all African youths.
