EMP Honeymoon: Kelly & Tom by Dorothy May Mercer is a fictional novel about a young couple. The theme of this action-packed book contains war, love, and betrayal.

Kelly McBride decides to go shopping for her nephew during her honeymoon when she steps into a high-tech lab called The Pigsty store. She finds equipment committed to disrupting the two North American power grids within the empty store and instantly becomes aware of a suspicious illicit activity underway. Luckily, she escapes a kidnapping, as an agent chases her back to the hotel. Without missing a bit, Kelly quickly contacts her brother, some undercover agents, and the office of the President. An operation takes shape, and with all forces combined, they plan on pulling the terrorists' plan apart. Will they successfully stop the operation? Well, grab a copy of this book to find out!

Despite the scientific disposition of this book, Dorothy May Mercer kept her verbiage simple and her descriptions detailed. A good number of activities were happening simultaneously, but I commend the author for keeping track of every unfolding event. The characters involved were bulky, but readers who have read the prequel wouldn't find some characters foreign. There was significant character development, especially Kelly's character. The progression was visible and exciting to read.

This book was an absolute thriller and would fit as a blockbuster movie. I appreciate the author for the pockets of romance in the scenes. It was a soothing reprieve from the action and doomsday narrative. Kelly's character was my favorite; I found her brave and utterly heroic. I couldn't imagine myself in her shoes, chasing terrorists instead of having the best period of my life. It was also a good show of patriotism towards her country, as she was willing to stare death in the face for millions of lives to be saved.

However, I didn't appreciate Tom's nonchalance to Kelly's plight in some dangerous and empathic situations. For a supposedly loving and protective husband, he performed a botched job. Also, I found the subdual of the terrorists too easy, as opposed to how trained and dangerous the book portrayed them to be.

I found no error, as the book was exceptionally well edited. The story was fast-paced at a point and rushed the reader to the end. For these reasons, I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

I recommend this book to fans of sci-fi, action, and thriller novels. They are in for a big treat.
