We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a sci-fi novel by Matthew Tysz that centers on Voulhire, the greatest country in all of the lands. Galen Bray is the protagonist in this book. He was born and bred in the Land of Princes. A once glorious city now ravaged by war and poverty. Galen is invited to Voulhire by his uncle.

In a bid to attain greener pastures, he happily accepts his uncle's proposal and sets sail for Magnum Caelum. On arrival, he learns about the death of his uncle and is distraught. The mayor welcomes him and shows him his uncle's house while telling him about his inheritance. The next day, he meets Rowan, his uncle's enforcer. They both go to his uncle's forge, where he sees the learning handbook his uncle left for him. He learns blacksmithing in an attempt to carry on his uncle's legacy. Will Galen succeed? To find out, grab a copy.

The author makes this book interesting with the addition of mages, kings, consorts, and lords. These concepts intrigued me, as did the fight for power and the political conflicts. The book was written from different perspectives, which gave readers the knowledge to understand the characters on a personal level. Readers could understand why the characters made some of the decisions they did, even when they didn't agree with them. Every character introduced was pivotal to the story and wasn't just used as filler. My favorite character was Rowan. He was funny, smart, and loyal to Galen. He could have used Galen to acquire wealth, but he helped him settle in as best he could despite knowing him for less than a day.

I like the world-building by the author; it showcases his skill as a writer and makes the book fun to read. I found no flaws in the book and found it fun to read. The plotline was accurate and didn't end up being filler. The dialogue was efficient and straight to the point. I loved every bit of it as I was engrossed from start to finish.

I found no errors in the book, indicating it was exceptionally well edited. The author took his time to ensure that this book was a masterpiece. I happily give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. Being the first book in the series, it set the tone for the subsequent books to follow. I recommend it to lovers of action, drama, suspense, and thrillers.
