Have you ever wondered how global diplomacy works? To quote Barack Obama, "In a world of complex threats, our security and leadership depend on all elements of our power - including strong and principled diplomacy". Due to the current conflict in Eurasia, the importance of diplomacy has again shot into the spotlight. If you want to go behind the scenes of global diplomacy, then A Dream For Peace, a memoir authored by Dr Ghoulem Berrah, is a must-read for you. The author has done an outstanding job explaining the intermingling of historical incidents, politics, economy and diplomacy in the tumultuous times of the 1960s and 1970s.

The author himself is highly qualified. He has a master's degree in biology and a PhD as well. His academic qualifications aid him greatly as he becomes the special advisor to the president Houphouët Boigny of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire. He was politically active since his early days of medical education in France. While there, he formed the Association of North African Muslim Students to propagate the issue of Algerian independence. Dr Berrah is also academically gifted, as he eventually secured the Fulbright scholarship that enabled him to travel to the United States. Once in the US, he began his research on inhibition of DNA synthesis at Indiana University. As a science student, this fact only added to my admiration for the author.

A Dream For Peace was captivating in myriad ways. This autobiography has comprehensively dissected the inner workings of international diplomacy. There is the mention of a particular incident in the book where Dr Berrah helps control the inflammatory speech of the Cuban revolutionary Fidel Castro. That happening was my favourite part of this memoir. While other officials panicked because of Castro's mood, Dr Berrah came up with an ingenious resolution to diffuse the crisis. The author cut the connection to his mic and pretended it was a technical glitch. And as simple as that, the situation was done and dusted. Further, there was nothing that I disliked about this book. No instances of profanity came to my notice while reading it.

The facts about geopolitics and diplomacy present in A Dream For Peace are fascinating. Hence, even teenage readers can appreciate this book. Bibliophiles who like to read memoirs may look at this book with favour. Students of philosophy and political science will also find this book resourceful. I could not find any noticeable grammatical or punctuation errors while reading it. Consequently, I feel that the book has been exceptionally well-edited. In conclusion, A Dream For Peace by Dr Ghoulem Berrah deserves a perfect score of 4 out of 4 stars.

The concept of World Peace, especially right now as the threat of a world war lurks on our horizon with the whole Russia Ukraine tensions, deserves our utmost attention. Thanks a lot for giving this book a good review, and hopefully it gets the attention it deserves!

I've come across this book countless times. Let me tell you, I find myself questioning the book because of it's length. I don't want to start what I can't finish, lol. But with your detailed review, I might be giving it a read soon. Great review.
