Review of Wild World
[Following is a volunteer review of "Wild World" by Peter S. Rush.]
Revolutions are often made to change the status quo of things occurring at a particular time. Have you ever been a victim of police brutality or injustice and wished to put an end to it? This book is all you need. Wild World by Peter S. Rush is a fictional book that teaches readers about police reform and how to fight injustice and other ill practices in the force. It also talks about the Vietnam War.
An incident occurred at Kent State University in Ohio, where protesters were killed by American troops. Four students were killed, and among the four students, two were not even part of the protest. A number of students were also injured by them. Steve Logan, who is a law student at Brown University, felt uncomfortable about the ill-practices in the police force. After his encounter with Durk, who is a New York police officer, he made up his mind to change his career path from law to becoming a police officer. He became a member of the Providence police department. Steve will have to embark on a mission to reform the police force. He also has to maintain his relationship with his girlfriend, Roxy. This book was written in such a way that anyone who reads it will be able to relate to the events described. Police brutality and ill practices in the police force, such as bribery and corruption, have been a norm in our society, which needs to be addressed by the right authorities. I admire Steve's courage in fighting against corruption in the police force and exposing the bad officers among them. He didn't care about what people would say when he decided to change his career path from being a lawyer to joining the police force. In the course of reforming the police force, he had conflicts with his superiors. I learned that these ill practices start from the top. I commend him for the sacrifices he made for humanity. I hope a lot of people like Steve would love to join the police force. I also love the themes in this book, such as fear, injustice, police brutality, and riots.
I didn't dislike anything in this book. I must admit that I enjoyed every part of it. The love relationship between Steve and Rox made the book more interesting. I believe the cause of bribery and corruption is the greed of most police officers. A proper scrutiny of police officers would make it easy to fish out the bad eggs among them, but sadly, these ill practices start with the superiors who are meant to lead by example. I appreciate Peter for this informative book.
I'm rating this book four out of four stars. I found a few errors in it. This shows that it was professionally edited. I recommend this book to police officers.
