The Elephant Tooth of '95 by Rana Baydoun, is a fiction book that covers different aspects of life including love and family, life challenges and opportunities. in which a young graduate lady from a united Lebanese family seeks and finds employment in a local company where she develops her career, contributes remarkably to the company's growth and also finds love. All does not go smoothly though as it is intercepted when she gets betrayed by her lover and not very later also suffers a loss of one of her parents and left faced with fighting battles of loss and grief. She also encounters work related challenges but does not give in. She perseveres through the storms till the end. The Elephant Tooth of '95 is a mixture of modern and old tradition practices as it shows transitions of its character's lives with time. The book is filled with activities which leaves the reader with question marks at the end of the chapter wondering what is going to happen next, hence keeps you going.

The importance holding on and facing one's challenges in life, it teaches about survival tactics. It also shows the importance of unity in a family e.g The support given to those going through challenges in times of need which was seen during the funeral of Noor's mother.

Rana Baydoun ended the book abruptly, when the reader would have hoped for seeing what transpired after those lunch dates between Noor and Alexander; whether they stayed happily ever after or it did not work, the reader is left guessing.

I gave the book 3 out of 4 stars because it covered all the aforementioned aspects of life but i did not find it to be excellent as the author left some situations unexplained.

I recommend this book to young adults and middle-aged people who have got a chance to face similar challenges later on in life as they can relate and be in a better position fully utilize what they may have picked from the book and make informed decisions. The book would not be suitable for children as they may not be mature enough interpret the content well let along to comprehend it.
