A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is an autobiography detailing the author's life. It tells the tale of his struggle for the liberation of Algeria and his fight for peace. It contains themes of activism, racism, and peace.

Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was from Algeria, an African country that was colonized by the French. Growing up, he was no stranger to racism, and he decided to take a stand against it. He received a scholarship and moved from Algeria to France due to his academic excellence. While pursuing a higher education, he was an active member of several activist groups, including the UGEMA and FLN, fighting for Algeria's independence from the French. After being knee-deep in the operations of these groups, he fled to Spain to escape the French police. He got imprisoned there. Following his release, he joined Morocco in their struggle for liberation. After that, he moved on to further his education. He felt the need to help Africa and went to Côte d'Ivoire, where he developed a close friendship with President Houphouët-Boigny and was made his special advisor.

Just as the name implies, Dr Ghoulem Berrah had a dream for peace which he fought for throughout his life. I admire his courage and resilience. He was a vast traveller and met a lot of great people. It was exciting to read about his encounters with various presidents and world leaders. Berrah was a gifted diplomat. He did a lot of remarkable things during his lifetime. He worked alongside President Houphouët-Boigny to help other nations. They helped the Igbos during the Biafran war and tried to stop the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

One of the aspects of this book I enjoyed was the author's inter-religious marriage and his stance on religion. He was a Muslim, and his wife was a devout Catholic. Her parents didn't approve of the marriage instantly, but that didn't deter them due to the love they had for each other. The author believed that, irrespective of our various religions, we serve the same God and share a common faith, and that was a great lesson to pick. The merging of both the Christian and Muslim religions in this book was thrilling, and learning about the Christian and Muslim doctrines was enlightening.

It was enriching to read about the beautiful cultures and cuisines found in Algeria and Côte d'Ivoire. It was also thrilling to read about Algeria's fight for liberation from the perspective of an activist who was involved directly.

There was nothing to dislike in this book. It was quite informative due to the numerous historical events it contained. It was professionally edited, as I found a few errors, and is deserving of a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to people who enjoy reading memoirs and books about politics and activism.

Wow. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was a true definition of versatility; a doctor, a freedom fighter, and a man with tolerance having married a Christian woman. I look forward to reading all about this man's life. Nicely written.
