A Dream for Peace is a memoir written by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah based on his personal experiences and memories. The book focuses on the author's life struggles and hardships towards a peaceful Algeria. Dr. Berrah was born in Aïn Beïda, a small town in the province of Constantine in Algeria during the French colonisation. During his stay in France as a medical student, Dr. Berrah became an activist in the struggle to fight for freedom.

During his stay in Bordeaux, Dr. Berrah joined forces with his fellow African students from Morocco, Tunisia, Vietnam, Madagascar, and Algeria to fight against discrimination and racism under the banner of the "Association of North African Muslim Students" (AEMNA). And during his struggles, the author gained many achievements. He became a professor at Yale and later a special advisor to President Houphouët-Boigny. Read this book to know more about the author's journey and hardships for a peaceful Algeria.

A Dream for Peace is an enlightening read. The book contains many positive aspects and valuable themes, such as love, friendship, struggle, racism, marriage, war, sacrifice, and many others. Within the 644 pages of this book, we get to know the author's childhood life, his education, his fight against racism, his career, his achievements, and his love life. For example, we see how the author and his wife, Titi, had an interfaith marriage, which is shown in chapter eight, "Murky Waters of Love."

Mostly, I liked how clear and straight-forward the author was in his writing. Even though the author shows us the accomplishments he achieved in his life, he also did not shy away from showing us the difficult situations he experienced. For example, in chapter two, "Hardship and Prison", we see how Dr. Berrah had to fight with his inner self when he was a prisoner in the prison of the Rojos in Spain. I also liked how the author provided readers with descriptive details of each scene and the individuals who played an important role in his life.

Honestly, there was nothing I disliked about this book. I found no grammatical errors while reading the book, so I believe the book was exceptionally well-edited. The author also included pictures of the different schools he attended, his wife, his parents, and colleagues. The language used by the author was also simple and easy to understand. And for the above reasons, I give this book, A Dream for Peace, a perfect rating of 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend this book to readers who are interested in motivational novels and historical politics. Lovers of non-fiction books and memoirs would also enjoy reading this book. I would also recommend this book to readers who want to know more about African colonialism.

Dr. Ghoulem was a blessing to his home country and Africa. The truth he spelt out in this book are real solutions to the problems most Africa countries are facing. I hope Africa get it right one day and the human race live with eachother with peace and understanding. Wonderful review!!!
