Review of A Dream For Peace
I will simply refer to this book as a revolution in words. I have never felt this sensation after reading a book. This book, I must say, is more than just a biography; it contains deep treasures and secrets that could liberate many nations. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, I wish I could thank you enough for putting your life experiences into writing.
A Dream for Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a book filled with so much motivation. This book is a memoir of the author, who I describe as a patriotic Algerian. In this book, the author tells us about his origin, family, education, and more. The author tells of his personal struggles, which include making a career decision contrary to what his stepbrother wanted, the reoccurring racial challenges, and the pain of losing loved ones who were very instrumental in his quest for peace. You would probably be wondering what ignited the author's determination to set his country free from its colonizers. How much was sacrificed for the liberation of Algeria? There is a lot to learn from this book. Make this book a must read.
Personally, I found everything about this book very interesting. I would want to commend the author for taking the time to write about himself. It takes a good and courageous man to pass his legacy down to younger generations. The author also did a good job of including the pictures of people who were very instrumental in his pursuit of peace. This would help preserve their memories in the minds of the readers.
From the author's story, I could imagine what life was like in Algeria and most African countries before their independence. I could also understand the damage racism has caused in our society. It is no news that religious differences have caused so much pandemonium in various parts of the world. The author showed his desperation for peace through the way he related to, tolerated, and respected people of other religions. This is evident on pages 59 and 60 of this book. I loved how the author was able to balance his personal and family life with his professional life. The author may not have achieved world peace, but his book could inspire great minds who will continue this fight for peace.
After reading this book, there was nothing I disliked about it. However, I felt that the author exaggerated his relationship with his mother at the start of this book. I kept wondering if the same attention given to the author by his mum was the same for other siblings. I also observed one spelling error in this book. I must say, the editors of this book did a good job.
I will rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to those who love reading biographies. This book will also be an interesting read for those who desire a world of peace.
