A Dream For Peace is a memoir by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, an Algerian by birth. It is about the journey of patriotic citizens in gaining the independence their country needs.

Dr. Berrah is a freedom fighter, an activist, a diplomat, and a scientist. He got his primary education in Algeria, where he faced racism that’s always bestowed on all Algerians by the French Colonists. The Algerians felt like a stranger in their land that their history was not being taught in their various schools.

Dr. Berrah finished his education in Algeria and received a scholarship to study medicine in Paris. He left for Paris, but his focus changed as he started to gather like-minded people like him to fight for their independence. This set of people lost their education in this process. Later, he traveled to America and attended Indiana University to complete his education, and made numerous scientific innovations. He was hired as a lecturer at Yales School of Medicine, where he later left when he saw a world filled with chaos. Dr. Berrah got invited by the President of Côté d’Ivoire, Houphouët-Boigny, and was appointed as his special advisor. He, a diplomat now, started moving around the world, trying to create peace in different countries. He settled the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and embraced dialogue between Israel and Palestine.

A Dream For Peace is a captivating book filled with wisdom and encouragement for people to promote peace in this world. It does not only talk about politics and freedom, but also about unwavering faith and tolerance. Dr. Berrah is a man with great vision for the future and generations to come. I wish politicians of the present age would learn from him. He’s not greedy like the present-day politicians who worry about amassing wealth alone. He’s a devoted Muslim, and his unwavering faith in God is admiring.

Another aspect of the book I loved was his sweet relationship with his mom when he was young. Every child needs strong support, especially at an early age, to build confidence in them. She was loving and warm towards him, though his other siblings were not mentioned in detail. Dr. Berrah, not only taught tolerance but also exhibited it in his marriage. He believes both religions can cohabit as long as there’s love and tolerance between them.

There’s absolutely nothing I detest about this book. Dr. Berrah wrote it in a constructed style. Though one might get confused at some point, it’s worth the read.

I have no reason to rate this any lower than 4 out of 4 stars. I couldn’t detect any errors, which means the book is exceptionally edited.

Likewise, I’ll recommend this to historians and people in the political world.

I must say that the author's relationship with his mom got to me too. I loved it. His mom's psychic was strong too. Your review did Justice to the book.
