Conversing with Various Entities by Mary Ellen Wall speaks of all the ways the author tried to use magic in her life and find out if there are any beings out there who would be willing to converse. She gives concrete advice on what has worked well for her and how to proceed if you want to get answers to any questions you may have, that a mere human being is not able to answer. Mary Ellen Wall starts her journey not believing in magic herself until she discovers dowsing. From this point on, she starts reading up on the ways people used magic in the past and mostly got punished for it, some were burned at the stake, some simply cast out of society... Furthermore, she studies various crafts and gets in contact with various beings, making it a point to talk only with the good ones, who have no bad intentions, as opposed to those who mean her harm. The author gives guidance throughout the book on how to best practice various magic skills.

The negative aspect of the book is that it goes too far for my taste. While believing in various entities who exist independently from us and mostly keep to themselves, I find Conversing with Various Entities not believable and perhaps closer to a fairytale that to actual events in the author´s life. I would definitely pick up a book with this theme in a library, perhaps before many others, but I didn´t find this one plausible enough.

The good aspect of Conversing with Various Entities is that Mary Ellen Wall gives advice on how someone would go about conversing with spirits, but also includes photos, so that the reader gets a good grasp on what device to use, how to form questions so as not to be disrespectful towards entities trying to help you, which questions you must never ask etc.

I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars because I didn´t find it as interesting as I initially thought, but it is well edited and somewhat pleasurable to read.

I would recommend this book to anyone interested in communicating with beings out of our physical world and reading about other people´s experiences in doing so. Mary Ellen Wall speaks bluntly of her encounters, involving her Christian faith in all of them. Despite the fact that she is Christian and involves her faith in all her actions, I believe that what she is trying to convey is that, regardless of your faith, you could try conversing with entities, but you must always keep your faith close, because that is what keeps you grounded and protects you from bad things.
