In Ripples of Time, Jon-Jamal Turner told his story as a Black Panther activist. He wrote about all he and his colleagues and all Black people had to go through at the hands of White supremacists. He also gave readers a detailed account of all that transpired during the period of slavery. He wrote about how Blacks were brutalized, tortured, and killed on a daily basis even after gaining freedom from slavery. Yesterday is today’s ripples of time, and this book showed how yesterday’s injustices are still with us today in the form of neo-slavery.

One of the major reasons I loved this book was how detailed the author was in his writing. No information about what transpired in the past in relation to slavery was left out. He was careful enough to include dates, times, and locations of the events recorded in the book. Also, this book was really educative. As a Black person living on the west side of Africa, I had just vague information on the slavery period; however, reading this book has broadened my knowledge on the topic, and I am grateful for that.

Social media gives us just about twenty percent of what transpired during the era of slavery, but Ripples of Time by Jon-Jamal Turner showed me all that transpired in a chronological pattern, and this made for a better understanding. I also loved the tone of the author in this book. Although he wrote with grief in his heart, Jon-Jamal Turner still didn’t sound offensive towards the current generation of Whites regardless of all their ancestors had put Blacks through; instead, he encouraged Blacks to stand up against neo-slavery, which is currently existing in the world. I also have to give some credit to the editors of this book because I didn’t find many errors in it, and that allowed for easy reading. The author also used excellent diction, and I give him accolades for that. Despite being a historical book, simple English was used, making it suitable for even the average reader.

There was really nothing worth disliking about this book. It was an entirely educative read. I never knew about the concept of neo-slavery before I read this book, but the author exposed the idea in great detail in this book.

Ripples of Time by Jon-Jamal Turner is professionally edited. There are a few errors in it, but I still enjoyed reading the book regardless. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars, which is justified by the points I noted in the second and third paragraphs of this review.

I strongly recommend this book to people, especially Blacks who have little knowledge about American history in relation to slavery. I also recommend this book to historians who wish to know more about what transpired during the times of slavery.

The question is, were we (black people) really granted freedom?
We took the freedom ourselves and they didn't like that, so they resorted to things that would make us want to regret the decision.

I'm loving this book and the review.
With so much information inside this book and little to no, it just justifies the full star awarded to the book.
Thanks for the great review.

Nice review. It seems like an educative book that is easy to understand. I would love to learn more about what happened at the time of slavery as my knowledge is very vague. I would love to read the book

Neo-slevery is a concept I can so much relate with, and it should be shunned by black people all over the world. This is a brilliant review.

Any reminder of the slavery era makes me really emotional, and to think that it has continued in the form of neo-slavery makes me livid sometimes. You delivered a good review.

The book cover perfectly illustrates the message of the book. The concept of neo-slavery isn't one I'm conversant with. Maybe I could learn a thing or two from the pages of the book.
