A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a memoir by the author. Ghoulem, an Algerian by birth, was the only son of his parents after losing his brothers to death. Ghoulem was a political activist; his dream was to see Algeria free from the colonisation of the French. He joined hands with people who had a common interest in seeing Algeria free. Ghoulem was a gifted man with many talents: a doctor, peace seeker, revolutionary ambassador and a freedom fighter. He was the first scientist to hypothesise about reverse transcriptase enzymes. As a freedom fighter, Ghoulem fought for the liberation of many African countries and struggled to bring peace between Israel and Palestine. He was a devoted Muslim, married to a Christian woman. He acaieved so many things in his lifetime, some of which seem to be an impossible feat.

A Dream For Peace is an exciting biography that opens the author's birth country, racism and his fight against the colonisation of Algeria by the French. The author wrote a detailed life story of his mission in bringing peace and liberation to Africa. I'm impressed with how the author achieved so many things; his determination and enthusiastic spirit became an inspiration to me. I felt like I haven't done anything to impact the world positively. Ghoulem's biography struck a chord in me. The book is inspirational and a page-turner. Ghoulem was a liberal Muslim. He was open to all individuals and a friend to Christians, Jewish and other religions. Ghoulem was a man to all, and he dedicated his life to making Africa a peace-loving continent. The author's narrative style is fascinating; I am shocked by his relentless effort to achieve his goal even with the huge hurdles he faced.

What I love most about this book is Ghoulem's selflessness and determination to bring a revolution. Even imprisoned and tortured, it didn't weaken his spirit; instead, it made him strive more. Each chapter of the book takes you to the author's journey in his quest for change. Readers would have an idea of the aftermath of colonialism and the suffering in Africa. Through Ghoulem's eyes, we see the history of the twentieth century. Though the author gave a lengthy narrative of his life story, his creative writing made the story intriguing and educative. I also love the pictures used in some chapters of this book, and it gave me clarity of some of the obscure imaginations I have about this book. The inspirational quotes at the end of each book chapter made the book a great read.

There is nothing negative I found in this book. The story plot is well arranged. It's a book that will make readers search for those things they can do or contribute to bringing about an excellent development to their society, no matter the circumstance. Ghoulem is conscientious and a man of integrity. This was exemplified when he was offered a bribe by the Dean in a higher institution, and he rejected it. This memoir will benefit the world because of the author's selflessness, discipline, thoughtfulness and consideration towards others.

The book is excellently edited. I found no error in the book. The diction is clear and easy to comprehend. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because it's a story that motivates one to be patriotic, and also it educates readers to know what they are meant to be and learn not to give up when faced with challenges. I would recommend this book to readers who love memoirs and readers who love Africa's history.

This must be a great book. Everything I’ve read about it is positive and encouraging. Dr. Berrah did lots of amazing things and seems greatly accomplished.

So many good things about Dr Ghoulem. His memoir sounds to be an interesting one. Although he lost his brothers, he didn’t let that affect his success story.

Dr Berrah seems to be an awe inspiring figure! And the role of diplomacy is further highlighted by the recent Russia-Ukraine conflict.
