Review of Still Teaching and Preaching
In Still Teaching and Preaching, the author passionately advocated for changes in different sectors of the United States government. Ned L. McCray began by calling out those who put the responsibility of raising a brilliant kid on teachers alone. He stated that it takes the collective effort of the parents, principal, teacher, and student to produce a brilliant scholar. He expressed his disappointment at the decline in the public school system of the United States and detailed the changes he would love to see in the education sector.
In subsequent chapters, he went ahead to proffers solutions to other problems plaguing the United States. He expressed confidence in the ability of the government to turn the tides around if they could get to work. What are these solutions? Find out by reading through the pages of this book.
The book contains some positive points. I love the passion of the author, which was reflected in his writing. He is clearly a patriotic citizen of the United States of America. He wants to see things work for the good of everybody. He wants to see the public school system get better. He seeks to awaken the government to the killings in Chicago. He generally has the best interest of his nation and the people at heart. Such patriotism is not easy to come by. I also love the diction of the author. It was easy to understand.
Also, I love that the author went beyond mere criticism of government policies to proffer possible solutions to the government regarding the many issues he highlighted in the book. The author seemed to be more after providing solutions than condemning the government. I also enjoyed the part of the book where the author educated the reader on the causes of global warming. I didn't know about the concept before now. The book exposed my mind to new ideas, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
I found nothing to dislike about the book. It was concise and straight to the point. The author did not bore the reader with unnecessary detail. Also, like I earlier mentioned, the author was more motivated by the need to proffer solutions than the need to condemn.
The book was professionally edited. I found a few errors in it, but they were not enough to take anything away from my enjoyment of the book. Consequently, I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars. I didn't give the book a lower rating because I had a good time reading through its pages.
I recommend this book to readers interested in learning about government policies and how they affect the lives of the masses. I also recommend it to leaders in different capacities who need ideas on how to make the lives of the citizens better. Current and future presidents of the United States of America will equally find this book to be very helpful.
