The Price of Dreams is the story of a boy named John Dolan who was obsessed with painting. When he was a child, he used to paint on the walls. After he grew up he joined the University of Texas to study art and the story begins here. There he met Amy whom he soon married.

The narrative style of the author Jerry Greenberg is concise and precise. The book is divided into appropriately sized chapters with perfect titles. The book is quite short, being only 175 pages long. The size of each chapter is also limited to only a couple of pages.

The novel is named The Price of Dreams , however, the plot of the novel is not related to the title of the book. Each chapter has too many incidents in it and none of the incidents are in much detail. The writer simply goes through each event in short and then moves on to the next. The story just goes on and on without any specific or important incidents. After Amy dies John meets many women but nothing significant happens here either. The climax of the book was my favorite as John finally found love in his life.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars, because this book was quite a light read and I enjoyed reading it. The story line of the book doesn’t make much sense primarily because it does not reflect the title. The title of the book suggests that it is a motivational novel but the plot does not comply to the genre nor does it do justice to the title.

I recommend this book to teenagers and youngsters. It is also an enjoyable short read for adults. This book is worth for a one time read. There is nothing much to learn from this book. I kept waiting for some major plot twists but I was met with disappointment.
