Create the Life You Want by Raymond P. Gerson is a non-fiction inspirational and motivational book. Gerson sections the book into four categories: Career, Purpose, Relationship, and Contribution. Each category has multiple subcategories that go over different aspects. Majority of the content is based off of the authors experiences in his lifetime and how he handled the situations and obstacles.

At the end of each chapter, there’s a “summary” which is basically a bullet-point list of topics that were said, mentioned, or described. I found this very helpful for remembering what was some of the important ideas that were discussed. Following the summary, there’s a list of questions one can ask theirselves to think about their life and living styles.

The only thing I did not like was how specifically, in the first chapter, page five, he mentions another book he wrote. After mentioning the book he wrote, “Create the Job You Want: Six Steps To A Fulfilling Career” he continued onto another topic without explanation except for the fact that this book had helped others. I can understand why he did it, to bring more attention to that book and grab a readers attention, however, the placement of this was odd.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 mainly because it is very helpful and gives you a different perspective of life and all that awaits for you. This book is relatively a fast read with only 93 pages (via PDF). Towards the end of the book, there’s an “About the Author” page and Gerson has outstanding credentials with a Masters degree in Psychology and over fifty years of experience. The book was easy to follow and understand, I recommend this book if you're looking for something quick and easy to read that leaves you with a newfound outlook of life.
