A Walk Through The Grapes by David Jackson falls in the category of mystery. Jace Grazer, who had left his hometown two years back without telling anyone, returns back. Things started to go downhill with the Grazer Family when Dane, Jace's brother, fought with him after getting drunk at a party and then went missing. To complicate the situation more, he is also accused of murdering a farmer in a car accident. Jace takes things in his own hands and starts searching for him only to find a secret that is kept by the entire family from him. Will he be able to handle the tensions in the family? Will he succeed in making things normal again? Read on to find out.

The story is set in Willowcreek. I enjoyed reading the descriptions of lakes and vineyards very much. The description of the main character's favorite lake was very enchanting. I also applaud the author for the clear descriptions about different types of grape wines. The character development was also appreciable. I especially loved how Jace is shown naive initially, but gradually understands how to handle any situation with maturity. Also Robert's love for his favorite car, his discipline and rigid rules were very enjoyable. The author's simple writing style as well as addition of humor kept me immersed in the book.

I specifically loved the way the story unfolds. The building up of each character and their relationship with the main character is very descriptive. The descriptions of secret places were very captivating which made the story very interesting. Family relationships especially the relationship between the four siblings were very realistic and relatable. I also enjoyed the unpredictable nature of each character. For example, Ann's sudden explosion at Jace during a business meeting was quite unpredictable and contrary to her usual calm nature. The emotions of each character were very well described. Also the reactions and decisions of each character in different situations suited their personality which made the story more realistic. On the whole, I enjoyed reading the book.

While reading, I felt some details were stretched unnecessarily. For example, some nightmares that the main character had were very detailed. I feel the relationship between Jace and Ann deserved to be more properly developed. Also the overall flow of the story was sometimes disturbed due to sudden escalation or slowing down of the pace. The book seems professionally edited except for some minor mistakes.

Due to the above mentioned reasons, I would like to give a rating of 3 out of 4 stars to the book.

I would recommend the book to the audience who enjoys mysteries and family drama.
