Review by MuiMui -- We are Voulhire: The Ascension of Ak...
We are Voulhire: The Ascension of Akistry by Matthew Tyz is the fifth book of the We are Voulhire series. It is a fantasy novel that is not a standalone. The reader should read the previous books of the We are Voulhire series in order to fully grasp this adventure and understand the characters.
The story starts with Galen Bray being visited by the Emperor of Lullabies. The emperor asks that he unseat Lord Meldorath also known as the Eodi. Meldorath leads the Church of Destinism. Galen seeks help from his friend Demetrius who leads him to the prophet Akistry. The prophet Akistry represents the Order of Joshua. The story continues to follow Galen and his two friends Demetrius and Rowan and their adventure to Dire Vine jungle for help. Does Akistry help our friends? Will he succeed?
What I liked the most about We are Voulhire: The Ascension of Akistry is the story of Akistry and how our three adventurers found him. This prophet resided in the Dire Vine jungle which is filled with mystery. This place is not easy to find and when adventurers are close they will be greeted by the moss people. Galen, Demetrius and Rowan find themselves talking to a tree at one point! This tree, named Barnabas, had a very interesting background. The author does not forget characters from the previous book. He incorporated King Nartik, Chancellor Harper Renard, Marshus Alderman and Midius Maido in this book. Matthew Tyz continues to present different points of view by each character.
I could not find anything that I disliked about We are Voulhire: The Ascension of Akistry . The author continued to do a great job describing the scenes and fights. He also continued to bring new information that added to the story very well. I admired Akistry and the history he brought to the story. He was no ordinary character but a legend. He has seen many things and it all brought him to a sense of purpose.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. This book was well edited. This book contains profanity like the previous books so it is recommended for a mature audience. Filled with magic and adventure it continued to be a page turner for me. There was more philosophical dialogue in this book compared to previous ones. I do not expect readers of other religious beliefs to be offended.
