A story about the death of a childhood friend. The main characters, now adults, are still haunted by that tragic death. The plot combines interesting and intriguing themes. It seems like a good option for lovers of the suspense genre.

This reminds me of an old movie where a tragedy happened during their childhood and that seems to carry until adulthood. This story seems a little heavy and suspensful. Thanks for your review.

Alternating timelines is very difficult to write skillfully. Phil sounds great! Especially glad to have a strong female character!! Definitely want to read!

The review clearly points out the amount of mystery and suspense in the book. I think reading this book will be entertaining. Happy to read this wonderful and in detail review.

Waves break is a well-written fiction book full of suspense and well-developed characters. Aside from the Excess use of profanity, the story has such a great premise.

I usually enjoy books where seemingly small childhood events have much bigger effects in the characters' adult lives than anyone could have anticipated. However, as it seems the characters are involved in criminal activity later on, I don't want to read a story that seems to justify that or suggest that it was inevitable based on the events of their childhood. I will have to sample the book for myself to get a better idea. Thanks for a great review.

Your review is intrigueing. At the start, it seems to be a devastating story of a childhood lost but then takes a turn! Curious what the mysterious file is and how it relates to the death of a childhood friend. Well done!

I like stories that have a nostalgic flaire to them. Strong female characters and alternating stories from childhood with the present sounds delightful.

The review is superb! But I'm not a fan of mysteries and crime thrillers. And I hate profanity and violence in all forms, so I prefer to pass on this one.

La Cabra wrote: 04 Nov 2019, 01:50 Sounds like a slice-of-life mystery that would make an entertaining read for older twenty-somethings. I like characters like Wayne, at first seemingly unlikable but grow on you with time. Profanity seems quite commonplace among adult novels. I wonder, is this is a relatively recent trend in writing or has it always been the case?
Well this book sounds like a good mystery book. I like the bonding of friends even if they're dead. But I don't want to read it because of excessive profanity mentioned in the review. I don't like profanity, even if it is considered a common style in modern literature writing. If it had no profanity or borderline profanity, I may have read it ignoring that portion.

Well now, this seems like a book I'd enjoy immensely. From the sample pages that I read, the writing is crisp, and the characters come across as realistic. I can identify with Phil, having had a crazy friend or two along the way during my many years. Also, well placed profanity can truly enhance the personalities of characters, so I'm never opposed to a bit of spicy jargon.

I do enjoy mystery thrillers sometimes, and the fact that the alternating timelines were executed masterfully is a plus. Thanks for the review.

I appreciate your thoughts. I don't like such content as well.
