Somewhere beyond the stars, in one of the estimated billions of galaxies in the universe, you will find a wondrous world every bit as vibrant and alive as planet Earth. It is where this story unfolds. The Manian’s Spear is the book 1 of this SciFi/Fantasy series, Korian. Endura is a planet that accommodates humans and firstlings. Its atmosphere sustains a multitude of unique plants and fascinating creatures. Firstlings, tranquil and relaxed people, are indigenous to Endura and known as Ruids

Doric Devinrese, from Brackens Town, born a seeker, ventured into the forbidden Rivermead forest with his friend, Thane. His friend tells him to embrace the truth before he disappears within a mass of leaves. Scared and alone in the forbidden zone, he is attacked by a Skine, a word for a huge flying predator. He survives the attack due to his amazing ability to heal and regenerate. He makes a new “imaginary friend”, Crogan, who arrives at Sammas day celebration to warn them of an impending disaster and great suffering that is soon to befall Endura. The inhabitants were never aware of the evil that has been lurking in the shadows for Doric.

Adam Hades, once a prominent man, mentor to all the peoples of Endura and advisor to Zoren Ro, the first king of Endura was consumed by darkness and sought to reign over all of Endura. He was defeated in battle by the king, and his spirit was banished and imprisoned, never to return until the emergence of the child of prophecy, the chosen one, gifted with the power to restore life and balance of a forgotten time. Aaron, his son, and his army of Stragoy brought darkness into the land in search of the Azura - the gatekeeper. Who is this child that is supposed to free the people from the hold of the darkness?

The author, Giorgio Garofalo has put a great deal of effort into this new world. The book was slow in the beginning due to the precursory historical events and useful description of Endura. Without this, I doubt I would understand a thing. The way he described Endura was spectacular, it was as if he was envisioning this world in his mind’s eye. His writing style was admirable; for instance: “His eyes were bright and infuriated, flashing through disheveled, haphazard strands of hair.”

Giorgio was able to explore themes of love, survival, war, courage, and good Vs. evil. The story flowed smoothly and was not boring. I couldn’t put the book down. When I was not reading it, I was thinking about it. I find the book very interesting, filled with suspense, intrigue, action, and myth. The shocking revelations at the end were like pieces in a puzzle that were slowly coming into place. I am looking forward to more adventures, future books in the series would hold. The character development is very well-constructed.

There was nothing I disliked about this book. Though there were some missing commas and words in the narrative, it didn’t detract me from the flow of the book. I enjoyed the characters, the action, the suspense, and the emotions. I found no profanity in this book. The Manian’s Spear, book one of the Korian series is very interesting and intriguing. I found no issues with the narrative, and I recommend it to lovers of dark fantasy and mythology. I rate it 4 out of 4 stars.

Discovery, drama, suspense, action - I could just imagine it all as I was reading your review! It's been a while since I've been so hyped up over a book because of a review. Hopefully, the slow beginning won't trip me up much. Awesome review! :tiphat:

Seems like a carefully well crafted world by the author, and the plots sounds something I would like. Thanks for the review!

I found myself getting confused just by reading your review due to many fantasy elements, so I do think that a good description of Endura and historical events are necessary. It seems like the author was able to create a beautiful, fantasy world. This seems like a series worth reading. Thanks for your review!

This sounds like a wonderful book. I'm curious if it is a standalone novel. Thanks for a wonderful review!

It is quite an interesting book. It is the first book in the series and can stand alone. Thanks for commenting :tiphat:

Quite interesting to find Korian Endura , a planet like our Earth, that accommodates humans and firstlings. Hope this science fiction book is entertaining enough. Thanks for your good review though.

The name of the planet is actually Endura. You can pick up the book to find out who korian actually is.
