In Real Secrets of life!, the author Krishna Jagarnath a motivational speaker and meditation teacher extols us to transform our life and shares a roadmap for it. He starts with equality of faith, Karma, vegetarianism and ends with a pledge and vision for the future. Each chapter is followed by a summary which is a list of salient points.

There is no doubt about author’s honest efforts to share with one and all the real secrets of his life; in the process drawing from his real life incidents and famous motivational quotes. He shares interviews and quotes by some of the well-known Himalayan Gurus. There
are detailed notes on om healing, chakras, atma kriya and a full chapter on Ayurveda. The author introduces us to all the courses that helped him but to unlock the secrets, one needs to join and participate in these courses. The book tells us what to eat, what therapy to use, what courses to follow and what course to put our children in. Sometimes it reads as a long list of advertisement of websites and courses and Ayurveda doctors.

The writer presents his book as real secrets of life as he firmly believes that what he considers as the real secrets would be universally applicable. But that may not be true as many of the theories especially regarding food habits are debatable. For example, the author hails dark chocolate while telling us to shun tomato, potato and wheat. The author borrows ideas from specific nutrition websites and books and presents it as the final idea.

The book is not an easy read and I had to re-read many sections to make sense of them. Also proof-reading and editing are not up to the mark. While I appreciate his case for unity of all faiths and also his self-confidence and the intent to share, the book gets complicated due to long sentences and too many varied ideas incorporated in a single book. The writer being a motivational speaker, his tone is that of a speech. But there is lot of redundancy as the author tries to explain the same idea again and again.

I am going with two stars out of four as it is not free-flowing enough to be a real motivational force for the reader. A condensed and well-edited version is needed to fulfill the purpose.
