First Family, by Alice Langholt, is an extraordinary book that will have you wrapped up in all kinds of emotions from joy to sorrow. The storyline is based on the Abrahamic religious views of the first people ever created. Adam and his other half Eve. The story takes place in the Garden of Eden but certainly doesn’t stop there. The book follows their life and journey as they exercise free will and learn that every choice you make has consequences.

Most people already know the story of Adam and Eve and how it ends, but Langholt breathes a whole new creative life into the story. She makes the ancient tale more relatable to us by filling in the gaps of the story with raw emotions. She still follows the information that was given about Adam and Eve in the bible but weaves the pieces into a compelling story that will leave you begging for more. When I finished the book, I couldn’t believe it was over, I wanted the story to continue it was so good.

Also, Langholt justifies the characters’ actions in the book by creating them unique personalities that would explain why they made the choices we read about in the bible. I never got a deep insight into the characters from the Bible's telling of the story, so it was amazing to see how Langholt developed such compelling personalities.

I can confidently say that First Family deserves 4 out of 4 stars. The reason I am giving this story a perfect score is that I found no grammatical errors throughout the book. And, the story flowed together beautifully, it was not choppy or rushed despite having less than 200 pages. I would recommend this book to everyone to read because it might cause you to rethink what you know about the first family.

Another thing I enjoyed about this book is the composition. The book flips between each character's perspective on an ongoing situation. Langholt even includes God’s perspective on the trials Adam and Eve face. By allowing each character to tell their story we as readers can gain more insight into their personalities and thought processes behind their action, this level of intimacy is often missing in a lot of stories.

Altogether the book was a wonderful read and completely worth the time I spent reading it. The only downside I found about this book was that I wished it could continue.
