Poetry is said to be an art of expression, a way to explain one's perspective, an insight, and a creation of literary work from imagination and ideas. I have never really understood poetry or appreciated it, but Shitolian by O Persaud has introduced me to a new structure of art. The book contains 28 chapters and four sections, each with a new narrative and a new aspect of the author's perspective and creative mind. There were written titles with a bold font style. These four sections had themes that portrayed slavery, happiness, God, political views, and so many other great ideals of life.

The author created the book by expressing his views on some parts of history, leaving behind subtle messages and hints. The book contains emotional encoding from the author. The book is written entirely in the first-person perspective. The divisions were titled Shitolian, the creator, the colony, and punctuation, and each poem is related to its place of origin. There was a theme for each part. Black and Gun Control, one of my favorite poems from the Shitolian portion with a topic of slavery, described how difficult it was for racial minorities to identify themselves and how, despite their effort, they were stigmatized, disrespected, and taken for granted because of their skin color. Gun control spoke about political manipulation and agendas that affected the poor. These parts were heartfelt and emotional as they explained the experiences of racism and their hardships.

I enjoyed the book's transparency in terms of the different meanings of each poem and what was being referred to, as I could feel the author's pain and understand his ideal. The book contains rhythm and depth in context. I enjoyed how the author spoke about the different punctuation marks and their uses, importance, and dislikes. There were many themes and lessons learned, like the theme of teamwork.

Though it had inconsistent text flow and a change in font styles, which slowed my reading speed, it seemed like a creative decision providing emphasis on certain statements showing the authors' anger, and it didn't deter my experience of the book.

Nevertheless, I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars for its expressive nature and the insights I got from it, and it was exceptionally edited and contained no errors. I recommend this book to a mature audience interested in poetry and expressive themes. I do not recommend this book to younger readers because it contains profane words.

I'm not a fan of poetry but your captivating review piqued my interest in reading the book. The author's raw expression in the strong message he's passing across is thought-provoking. Great job!

Oh Shitolian! An anthology that I enjoyed when I read it. So captivating and unique. The poem truly expressed the pain and frustration felt by the author. I enjoy reading your review.

This seems to be an interesting publication, but unfortunately poetry isn't one of my preferred genres. This is an equally interesting and well detailed summary.

Despite the fact that I dislike poetry, your compelling review made me want to read the book. The author's unvarnished portrayal of the forceful message he is conveying provokes reflection. Well done!

This was the first poem I’ve ever read. I couldn’t understand it at first, but after reading it the second time, I could understand the author’s emotion.

Everything but the profanity was okay to me. The poet looked for creative ways to express his pain. The title is the most captivating thing in the book.

I've never really loved poetry, it always seemed complex and abstract. So, I don't think I'll be able to enjoy this book.
Many books can inform you but there's only one that can transform you(The Holy Bible). Pls don't forget to drop a comment for this review. Thanks. :D :tiphat:

This is an interesting publication and an equally intriguing review. I find poetry to be quite complex, so I'm not sure I'll be reading this. However, this is a beautiful review.
