"Wait a Minute!" is an enchanting and imaginative illustrated children's novella by author and illustrator Stevie Tenderheart (a.k.a. Steve William Laible). The story follows a young boy named Stevie as he lies in bed dreaming up all sorts of crazy things to fill his bed with, from sports balls to farm animals to a baby dinosaur!

The whimsical tale is told in rhyming verse that bounces along playfully. Stevie's wild train of thought takes delightfully silly turns as he envisions the consequences of each item, he considers putting in his bed. Balls would be too lumpy, a frog would attract a noisy duck, farm animals would invite bugs, a baby dinosaur would roll him out the window. His imagination runs wild until finally, exhausted, he drifts off to sleep, surrounded by his stuffed animal friends.

The writing cleverly captures a child's limitless creativity and the amusingly illogical yet wonderfully vivid ideas and associations that spin through young minds. It celebrates the joyful experience of a child getting lost in their own colorful thoughts and daydreams.

Tenderheart's endearing illustrations bring the story to life with vibrant colors and zany drawings of Stevie's imagined scenarios. The artwork perfectly matches the energy and humor of a young child's imagination.

Interspersed between Stevie's visions are tender moments where he expresses love for his bed, family, puppy, and the coziness and security of being tucked in at night. This grounds the story in a sense of a child's deep contentment, even as his mind zooms to fantastic places.

With its mix of rollicking fun and snuggly warmth, "Wait a Minute!" seems a perfect book to read to little ones at bedtime. The engaging rhythm and absurd mental pictures will elicit giggles, while the soothing ending can help lull kids to sleep feeling loved and safe.

The book is a solid 5 out of 5 stars due to its heartwarming story, imaginative illustrations, and flawless editing, not a single typo or grammatical error distracts from the immersive reading experience.

Ideally, this charming novella is an ode to the wonders of a child's imagination and the simple joys and comforts of home and family. Stevie Tenderheart has crafted a delightful, top-notch tale that kids can relate to, and parents will enjoy reading aloud, making it a must-have addition to any family's bookshelf.
