Review of Stevie Tenderheart Books WAIT A MINUTE! (An Illustrated Novella)
"Stevie Tenderheart Books WAIT A MINUTE! (An Illustrated Novella)" is a children's book written by Steve William Laible and illustrated by Nancy Watson.
Whoever has imagined having a baby dinosaur in bed or three chicks performing a dance routine on the head? That's what Stevie ponders. He is a boy with the silliest of ideas. As the writer mentioned, either Stevie is always finding mischief, or mischief is always finding him. Follow along as he attempts to get comfortable and lull himself to a good night's sleep by conjuring up the craziest scenarios.
I like the book from several perspectives. First, I appreciate how the author lets Stevie's imagination soar freely, as it genuinely represents how a child should naturally be.
It's worth noting that despite all his mischievous ideas, Stevie adheres to his parents' and teachers' advice. After a mental rollercoaster, he snaps back to reality and realizes why those ideas aren't a good choice. To highlight a few examples, Stevie allows his imagination to wander about the foods he'd love to snack on at midnight. However, he resists the temptation, heeding his mother's advice against eating in bed. This imparts a valuable lesson to young children, encouraging them to listen to the guidance of parents and teachers, which is commendable.
The incorporation of animals, birds, and vegetables in the book offers young children an early learning experience. The book employs straightforward sentences, making it easy for children to understand. It's captivating and particularly suitable for bedtime storytelling. Another aspect worth appreciating is that the illustrations make the book more attractive to small children, enhancing the reading experience.
The book is professionally edited. Although I did encounter a few minor typographical errors, they weren't significant enough to disrupt the readability.
I dislike nothing about the book and confidently give it a 5-star rating. I highly recommend this book if you have a little child dear to you. It won't just pique their curiosity but will also assist them in adopting small habits. Last but not least, it will help put a smile on their faces and a giggle in their hearts.
