Review of Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat
Inca, Fromage, Cara, Charlotte, and their human mom, Missy, go on vacation to Sri Lanka. Inca is a snoopy cat who runs a detective agency called Inca and company. They are involved in mystery-solving detective work. Away from London and their friends, they are having the best times of their lives. A few days into the vacation, all goes well. They visit exciting places, meet new friends and acquaintances, and eat delicious foods their mom usually won't let them eat back home. Solo, a friend to Missy and a detective, arrives with his detective dog, Terrance. As one of the best detectives, Solo was invited to investigate a theft case. A sword and gold coins are stolen from the museum. Inca hears words of it, and their vacation turns into a series of adventures. In their attempt to solve this mystery, no stone is left unturned.
Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi is the seventh book in the Inca series but can be read as a stand-alone book. It is set on the sandy beach and lush forest of Sri Lanka. The characters were fully developed. There was enough information on each of them. The language used is informal and simple, making it suitable for children. The book is written in a chronological plot order for easy understanding. The introduction of the characters at the beginning of the book was logical and coherent. This book contains vivid and colorful illustrations that incite interest. The direct tone made the book engaging. With Inca narrating the story, it did feel like reading from Inca's diary record.
Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat was a hearty adventure. Kristi did an excellent job with this story. The dose of mystery and fun was well distributed. This book is one of the best animal stories I've read. Readers will learn about the rich cultural and biological diversity of Sri Lanka.
I especially loved the lessons in it. There was a good show of cooperation, love, and exploration of friendship and family bonds. I also loved Inca's character. As the team leader, Inca exhibited excellent leadership skills by mobilizing and motivating the team members.
There's nothing I didn't like about this book. The book was exceptionally well-edited. I didn't see any errors, so I'll give it a rating of four out of four stars. This book will be entertaining for many youngsters. I'll recommend it to kids in elementary school because of the robust vocabulary used in the book. Pet lovers and lovers of adventure will find this book exciting.
