Tema Merback writes as Belle Ami. A quote that Belle considers her mantra is by Wilferd Peterson, “Success is focusing the full power of all you are on what you have a burning desire to achieve.” The book Escape by Belle Ami is a captivating romantic thriller. Mostly set in Iran but it also includes the United States of America, Israel and The United Arab Emirates it describes of the start and progress of love between two very different people.
Escape tells of a romantic story between Cyrus and Layla, two people brought together through circumstantial coincidences. The two are very different in all aspects; age, race, livelihoods, countries they lived in and so much more. It should seem unlike that a relationship could ensue let alone love. Through the set of events leading to Cyrus meeting Layla and occurrences forcing them to stick together, there was no other way the spy and the student relationship could have ended. Cyrus being a spy got himself in a position where an accidentally kidnapped Layla depended on him. She had turned out to be an asset for Iran due to his father's alleged genius in nuclear science and it all got down to the undercover agent to make a difference.
I loved how the author craftily designed the events leading to Cyrus's and Layla's meeting in captivating and unpredictable way. It's always fun to have a thrilling plot throughout a book. The author also knew the way around all major places the characters seemed to be. The descriptions given were just as one would wish to know. The fact that Cyrus had to concentrate by keeping Layla at bay was also great. Personally, I loved it when their relationship was weird.
The first half of the book was great and so much captivating as we all waited for would be of the characters. The second half though was predictable and I can say I personally wasn't that much thrilled with it.The fact that the character of Zamir died without the writer giving us details of his aftermath didn't excite me considering his importance to the plot. There were very little errors and I personally noted two or three meaning the book was professionally edited. I loved this book generally but I would have preferred to be amazed by it, if some changes were made.
I rate this book three out of four stars. I will recommend it to everyone who loves a good romance story and to anybody who would like to experience a romantic thriller plot, describing of a nuclear ambitious Iran.
